Anyone know if dvdoo.com ships to the US?

Does anyone know if dvdoo.com ships to the US?
If so, what are the shipping charges for 1 DVD?

Thanks

Thanks for responding d2cheer, actually just got this response back from dvdoo customer service...

"We do ship to the US and the shipping is free for now."

there is a 3 digit # that is on the back of your credit card that you need to put in there. Look on the back of your credit card and the # is the last 3 after your credit card #. Some sort of verification for your credit card.

I ordered my DVD on Jan 23, there is still a Temporary charge on my CC, but I never received any sort of confirmation form dvdoo, nor has my DVD arrived yet.

I'd appreciate any sort of info on DVD delivery time to the US as well.

Thanks

Is there actually anything of interest on this site that can't be had anywhere else? At a glance, it looks like mostly a lot of Hollywood titles already available on R1. Are there any Danish dvds anyone could recommend, or do they have a section with titles from Europe?

My copy of Driver just showed up and made me very happy. I've got to go through their catalog and find what else I want.

Unfortunately they seem to have mostly non-special r2 editions of things that I'm looking for the SE of. But the shipping's free.

==edited==

The total was 11.85. The list price for Driver was 99 kr so that's not too bad. There are a lot of 99 kr titles at dvdoo from the label that put the Driver disc out.

find their catalog at:
http://www.on-air-video.dk

You'll see some non-r1 available discs such as Convoy and Bugsy Malone and Transylvania 6-5000 (79 kr at dvdoo--under $10). Most of these can be found at dvdoo under "Midprice" as well as a bunch of other 99 kr titles.

I'll edit this again if I find any must-haves.

==more edits==

To find an alphabetical list of the on-air titles on their site, click on dvd video then the button at the top "Oversigt".

At dvdoo there's a PAL but 16x9 -enhanced Highlander with 5.1 (english?) in that 99 kr mix. I can't seem to find anything about video quality, though, and I haven't looked closely enough at Driver to say what to expect from on-air.

==even more edits==

There's an anamorphic 5.1 Taxi there that you can find the specs of at
http://www.jupiter.scanbox.dk
including the cover in pdf
http://www.jupiter.scanbox.dk/images/dvd_uk/taxiDj.pdf
That site has a couple of the other 99kr titles too.

All of these cheapies seem to be feature-only releases with DD sound and generally anamorphic PAL widescreen, but make sure you check the covers (when you can) to confirm this.

=======

For 99kr you can get the r2 Trimark Natural Born Killers director's cut which seems to (for once) be worthy of the collector's edition label that appears on almost all of these. It looks to have the majority of the features of the r1 disc for about 5 bucks cheaper or so.

I just ordered John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 for about $6.00, $8.00 with the tax!! Although I'm not sure if I have to pay the tax, does anyone else know?

The disc looks to be the same as the R1 but for about a quarter of the price I couldn't pass it up.

Does dvdoo send a shipping confirmation email? Also, I see from an above post the shipping took about a week, anyone have any other shipping experiences to share?

The tax? I don't recall what you're talking about... I'm pretty sure I didn't pay any tax. If you check on XE.com 99 kr turns out to be ~$12 so I don't think I paid any to ship it to Illinois.

As for the cheap discs, they seem to be a LOT of SS-SL releases of movies few would want... like Crazy Six with Rob Lowe, Ice-T, Mario Van Peebles and Burt Reynolds.

And I'm still just getting warmed up. I haven't put together another order yet, but that cheap Convoy's getting mighty tempting. And their Deer Hunter's anamorphic.

==edit==

They do not send a shipping confirmation email. You get one email the day you order or the next.

Does the Taxi DVD have an English audio track? It doesn't look like it has English subs...

It's hard to say if the taxi dvd has english. I'd say not if I had to guess -- the cover on www.jupiter.scandisk.com doesn't list the spoken languages and the site only says 5.1 french.

So probably not.

edit: found this page: http://hem.passagen.se/sbsnake/q-t/taxi.html and it says english subtitles. But I don't trust it. Somebody should email that guy and have him check his disc (if that's what its supposed to be) against the covers on www.jupiter.scanbox.com

As for other bargains, here are the one's I'm considering
Deer Hunter (R2)
Convoy (R2)
Den Fjerde Protokol (R2) (The fourth protocol w/ Brosnan)
Things To Do In Denver when you're dead
To Sir, With Love (R2)
Raging Bull - 2 Disk (r2)

The Raging Bull set is a pretty decent looking deal.

As I said before, I ordered Assault on Precinct 13 which was 59 kr. Well, when I checked out it listed something called 'Heraf moms' which was 11,8 kr. I figured this was some sort of tax and my grand total would be 70,8 kr. or about $8.00 USD. I have yet to be charged, but I will post the total when I get it.

Heraf moms translates as 'Value Added Tax'

Ah... you can translate!

The VAT is only in Europe. You will be charged the amount without VAT anywhere else. Or at least, the US.

Great find on that translator - it does lots of other languages as well.
As for titles on dvdoo, does anyone know if their version of Once Were Warriors is widescreen or if the Danish subs are removeable?

No English language or English subtitles and it's letterbox not anamorphic.

The Danish disc is 1.85:1 whereas the correct ratio is as the R1 DVD: 2.35:1 and you only get the commentary with the R1 disc. Better paying the extra $$$ for the better version.
