I just got done watching this movie for the first time and it's hilarious no matter what name it has.

"Why'd you show up as E.T.?"

I don't really care what they do to this movie here in the states. The Universe DVD is great; I'll stick with that.

Considering that most people in the States don't really know what Shaolin is, it makes sense.

It doesn't sound that bad, IMO.

A friend of mine called it Kung Pow Soccer when I first got it a few months ago.

30 minutes is a lot for this movie. What would they cut out? The lounge act scene? They can't cut that, because that leads up to the backalley showdown. Are they going to cut out most of the love story? Like the trip to the mall? What a shame. Oh well. Like I said, I have mine right here and it's just how I like it.

10 minutes of that would obviously be very easy, but I don't know where the other 20 is going to come from...well, I've never seen the original cut, so I dunno where the 10 minutes were added anyway.

BTW, did Universe ever re-release the DVD without the burned-in icon?

Spoiler:

Maybe some of the sillier scenes... like the sudden transition to some beachhead a la Saving Private Ryan. Or the soccer match against the two gals with moustaches drawn on.

Hey, you know the disc is Region 0. So you might as well just get rid of that region free player. I'm sure I got some place I can put it.

Guys guys guys. All they do is take the negative, make a copy, then start editing FROM SCRATCH. Yes, that's right. From scratch. Every scene will have some trims. This is how they did the butchering of OPERATION CONDOR and this is how New Line butchered RUMBLE and FIRST STRIKE.

F them and don't support them.

IMPORTS.

Shaolin Soccer Rumored to be cut up to 20min!!!

From KFCCimena:

http://www.kfccinema.com/news/news.html

Die Miramax, Die!!

Hope this is not true, but we have heard that the now classic Stephen Chow movie, Shaolin Soccer, retiteled by Miramax Kung Fu Soccer will be cut for his North American release. Apparently that the movie have lost more than 20 mins, to make the running time about 1H30, also the beautiful music has also been replaced by rap music, and finally we have lost the original Cantonese audio track replaced by a stupid English dub. We really hope that this news is false! But so far we don't have any confirmation if it is true or not.
I sure hope this is false!!!!

Am i the only one who doesnt think rap music goes well with soccer or kung fu?

Kung Fu Soccer

Ugh, with titles like that its no wonder alot of people still think HK movies are cheesy.

Now the question is if i wanna see this in theaters or not

Shaolin Soccer back to "Kung Fu Soccer"

If there was ever any debate over whether or not Miramax has a clue, the issue is now settled: they don't.

I hope they don't make a Shaolin Soccer 2 - it's not needed. The movie stands on its own. Oh - I'll watch it, but I won't like it.

I heard they were making a sequel...I heard it wouldn't have Stephen Chow though. I wonder if it'll still be soccer, or some other sport...
