I'm looking for comments on the R2 French long-version of Dances with Wolves, in particular with respect to its additional film footage as well as its audio-synch problem.

...ahh... you do realize that a lot of the dialog in this movie is spoken 'Indian' - which is subtitled in English on American copies of the film, and subtitled in French on the French disc - which effectively means that large stretches of the film will be incomprehensible --- unless, that is, you understand written French, or you just happen to be conversant in that particular Indian dialect...

...anyway, the first French DVD had to use a copy of the German print to achieve the 3 hours 43 minutes length, with French subtitles printed over the German subtitles...

...the second French release corrected this, but had problems with the sound being ahead of the picture, starting at about the 111 minute mark...

...un grand mess all around...

...in a nutshell then, neither French version is recommended...
