Jeneut and Caro Collection (French)

Anybody know anything about this? I stumbled upon this from one of the other threads: http://www.dvdpascher.net/bestof/toppack54.php3

Anybody know of a site that talks about it in English? What is on the discs? Price? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

There's a link at the bottom of that page that takes you to list of French e-tailers (like a price compare)... The average was about 400-500 francs or about $54-$67 US

Here's a link of one of those e-tailers with specs (still in French but I think you can get the gist):

...ahh... I have this set... there are no subtitles in any language on any of the discs (TCOLC does offer optional captions for the hearing-impaired - very rare for French DVDs) ... so unless your French is good enough (or unless you know the two main features by heart and don't care about the extras) the set wouldn't be much use...

...well... if ya gotta get it you gotta get it...

http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/sea...137842-2109727

...just remember: it's all in French only... well... the third movie in the set is silent, except for ambient sounds, so there's no problem there...

...oh, the two main movies each come on two discs, one for the feature, the other for the extras, so the set includes a total of two features and one 25-minute short subject on five DVDs...

...what looks like Amaray-type cases is actually something I haven't encountered before: the two discs are located on one hub, one on top of the other... whoever thought up that fool idea deserves to be shot at dawn...

I think that you might find that is 5 Off - particularly when you consider that the average price for a DVD is around 28 francs

While I was at the Amazon Fr site, I also noticed a couple of other interesting upcoming releases - one was a 6 DVD Kurosawa set and the other is a new 2 DVD set by Jeunet entitled Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain. Does anyone know anything at all about this new Jeunet effort?

regards, Tim...

...Amélie will be out in a limited SE (2 DVDs + CD in a biscuit tin) in December - the movie-only release follows in January - and it's all in French only, like the other Jeunet-Caro SE...

...here is Ebert's review of the movie:

I think you mean 28 euros which is about 185 ff, or roughly $40 CDN. So 50 ff is about $10 CDN off.

And now I suppose people will require a translation?

Lecon de cinéma = Filmmaking lesson
Commentaire = Commentary track
Témoignage = Commenting on (more like an interview)
Bande annonce = Trailer

Last thing I heard about this was all the extras are not subtitled just the movies. The Uk versions from Artificial Eye have the same transfers since they are licensed from M2K and from what is listed above all the same extras, but subtitled. I've already watched and enjoyed them. I think my total cost from Bensons World was about 65 or so.
