You and me both. Not to sound like a heretic or something but frankly, some of the season 1 eps were pretty darn lousy. Regardless of how spiffy the packaging looks, I think I'll be passing on it. I always got the feeling that the powers that be kind of wrote off that first season to a certain extent, in terms of it's connection to later seasons. Season 2 was still a tad clunky at times but it started to come into it's own (though they still wore the jumpsuits...blah!). Season 3 and up...yeah baby! Star Trek at it's highest level.

I'm trying to like it, but I just can't. It's just tupperware or something. I'd prefer a nice black case, perfectly rectangle with the logo in the middle "season 1" under that, and then maybe the season's cast photo.

This makes sense in Europe, but in the U.S. I don't get it. With the syndication saturation ST:TNG has I don't think this would ever succeed here. TNN has become the new home of the Trekdom(R) and shows TNG nightly and the movies at least once or twice a month. Heh... TNN might as well be called The NextGen Network.

I still think the limited edition black tin of Akira was AND is the best case period...

'nuff said.

Well MSRP on The Sopranos is $99.99 and it's got fewer episodes in a season (13 instead of 26). So I wouldn't say it's out of line. Of course I'd prefer an MSRP of about $89.00 per season, but I doubt it will happen.

Are you saying you don't think the TNG DVDs will sell well? Have you watched TNG on TNN lately with that horrid bar on the bottom? Heck, I'd buy'em just to get rid of the damn commercials much less that damn bar. Love my TOS for that reason, plus no editing for time.

The Akira tin would have been the best case ever if it had it's title on the side.

I normally don't like different types of cases, but I think this one looks pretty interesting. Very creative.

I think it says something like the 7 cases make a big box or something like that.

Haha, no. I think it means the seven individual cases hook together to make the long case.

Is there any other news regarding these as far as US release dates (if any). I haven't been able to find any other word on them. I would love to know if there will be worthwhile extras included as well (and not those TV episode trialers - I can download those for free anytime).

What annoys me a little is that I'm a member of the Columbia House series - got all of TOS and TNG complete, and I'm currently working on DS9 and Voyager - so now I'll have these on DVD and VHS - what to do, what to do....

What to do? Well, for one thing, I'd stop buying these VHS tapes asap!

Paramount is certain to be releasing DS9 and Voyager on DVD very, very soon. I'd stop right now and throw all of those puppies up on eBay.

Just curious, has anyone heard when to expect them to start releasing these? All these reruns on TNN are making me want TNG on DVD even more.

So it appears that they are probably the same height as keep cases. I think they look quite spiff.
