Holy Cow - Just made a HUGE order - ACK - STOP ME!

So I made this huge order with DDDHouse and got the wholesale pricing thing... and also a modest order with Pokerindustries. Anyone care to comment on the goodness or suckness of my selections? This will have to be the last order for quite awhile since I have several that I have yet to watch already here and with these on the way - I'm gonna be up to my eyelids in Asian cinema. I have a feeling though that you guys are gonna make more comments about what a lunatic I am rather than comment on the films.

Il Mare
Dragon Heat
C'est La Vie, Mon Cherie
Days Of Being Dumb
Fallen Angels
Sword Stained With Royal Blood
Sex And Zen II
The Bare-Footed Kid
Heroes Among Heroes
Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star
The Kingdom (Complete 3-Disc Set)
King of Beggars (MegaStar)
Too Many Ways To Be No. 1
Tom, Dick & Hairy
Twelve Nights
Who's The Woman, Who's The Man
Your Place or Mine
Legend of the Flying Swordsman
He's A Woman, She's A Man
I Am Your Birthday Cake
Fly Me To Polaris
Full Throttle
A Fighter's Blues (DTS Version)
Dragon Forever
City of Glass
Clean My Name, Mr Corner
Comeuppance
Conman In Tokyo
The Conman
Conmen in Vegas
Cop On A Mission
Tempting Heart
Summer Holiday
Help
Juliet in Love
Expect The Unexpected
Legend of speed
The Longest Nite
The Longest Summer
Moonnight Express
The New Legend of Shaolin
The Old One Dies
Only Fool Fall in Love
Savior of the Soul
Spacked Out
Suzhou
Task Force
Rules of the Game
There is a Secret in my Soup
Till Death Do Us Part
Tri Star
True Love
A Moment of Romance
Victim
Walk In
A War Named Desire

You may be a lunatic, but I'm jealous (of the large number of DVDs, not the lunacy).

Haven't seen any of the ones in your list, but I've got a copy of He's a Woman, She's a Man coming in the mail--it certainly looks like it'll be a good one.

Trigger,

I'm interested in where you found these titles because DDDHouse doesn't have them and I think some of them are out of print:

Dragon Heat
Days Of Being Dumb
Fallen Angels
The Bare-Footed Kid
True Love (which version? Andy Lau or Jackie Cheung)

Definte must see films:
King of Beggars (MegaStar)
I Am Your Birthday Cake
Fly Me To Polaris
Full Throttle
The Conman
Help
Juliet in Love
Expect The Unexpected
Legend of speed
The Longest Nite
Moonlight Express
The New Legend of Shaolin
The Odd One Dies
Savior of the Soul
A Moment of Romance
Victim
The Legend Of Zu
Prison On Fire

The rest are complete junk!

From personal opinions and general opinions...

V. good
C'est La Vie, Mon Cherie
Days Of Being Dumb (funny as **** )
Fallen Angels
Sex And Zen II
The Bare-Footed Kid
The Kingdom (Complete 3-Disc Set)
King of Beggars (MegaStar)
Who's The Woman, Who's The Man
Full Throttle (possibly Andy Lau's best films imo)
He's A Woman, She's A Man
Dragon Forever
A Moment of Romance (Andy Lau's second best )
Wu Yen
The Legend Of Zu (haven't seen it yet, but seems I could like it a bit)
The Longest Nite
The Longest Summer (shame that there isn't much more Fruit Chan films on DVD )
Moonnight Express
The New Legend of Shaolin

good
Dragon Heat (Eric Kok Man Fai is a funny ****er in my books, so it should have some good moments in)
Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star
Too Many Ways To Be No. 1
Tom, Dick & Hairy (is this the one where cops are taught how to talk to their dicks to catch a rapist? If not. That film was a low brow, but damn funny film. The opening song had me in fits itself :P)
Twelve Nights
A War Named Desire
Fly Me To Polaris
City of Glass
Clean My Name, Mr Corner
Comeuppance
Conman In Tokyo (Ching Siu Tung directs Nick Cheung imo one of his more funnier films(Nick's), and Louis Koo gets some decent fight scenes)
Tempting Heart
Juliet in Love
Spacked Out
Task Force (an underlooked film that that I've started watching a bit of. But it's well executed)
Prison On Fire
Legend of speed (a lo-fi version of Fast & furious, but pioneering the cgi to cars (actually. It could be Initial D's influence))

ok...
A Fighter's Blues (DTS Version)
The Conman
Cop On A Mission
Help (laugh at hospitals, nurses, doctors and patients. A bit hit and miss. But it succeeds because everything was done within a month)
Summer Holiday
Expect The Unexpected
Savior of the Soul (not as good as when you first watched it, but Aaron Kwok as Silver Fox still kicks ass. Why they don't do a film about Silver Fox, I'll never know )

bad
Legend of the Flying Swordsman
I Am Your Birthday Cake
Conmen in Vegas (crap Wong Jing sequal. Only if you want to gawp at women imo)
Sound From The Dark (if it's the Stephen Chow film. It has it's moments, but feels very uneasy, and not as funny as his moderate films)

this turkey stinks of poo
There is a Secret in my Soup (possibility of worst film? Sex for no reason, Michael Wong dubbed, actors who can't act, the Hello Kitty doll being blurred, production values looking like zilch. But if you can get over that it's a film so bad it's funny sort of thing. But not so bad it's good)

don't know
Il Mare
Sword Stained With Royal Blood
Heroes Among Heroes
Your Place or Mine
Suzhou
Rules of the Game
Till Death Do Us Part
Tri Star
True Love
Victim
Walk In
Sex Phone Girl
The Old One Dies
Only Fool Fall in Love

I agree with yangshouwen on most of the titles except:

I'd move these to very good:

A Fighter's Blues
Too Many Ways To Be No. 1
Tom, Dick & Hairy
Fly Me To Polaris
City of Glass
Comeuppance
Tempting Heart
Juliet in Love
Spacked Out

I'd move these titles to good:

Help
Summer Holiday
Expect The Unexpected
Savior of the Soul

I'd move this to ok:

The Legend of Zu

And I'd move this to bad:

The Legend of Speed

And from his don't know list:

Il Mare - very good
Your Place or Mine - good
Suzhou - very good
Victim - ok
The Odd One Dies - very good

You *ARE* da man! I wish I can get away with placing such a large orders. On the other hand, I just ordered a Rainbow playset for my daughter that could have added *300+* DVDs to my collection at DDDHouse's avg price.. Talking about priorities!!!

Out of the 60 or so you ordered, I have only seen the following:
  • Fallen Angels
  • Sex And Zen II
  • Tempting Heart
  • Summer Holiday
  • Expect The Unexpected
  • The Old One Dies (Do you mean The ODD one die?)
  • Prison On Fire

I have so much more to catch up to the mentor..

Hey Trigger! You've got to stop this madness. (just kidding)

Anyway, I just watched King of Beggars, here's my review of it.

I haven't seen any of the others you ordered.

cheers,
Gabe

I take that back, I do have Expect the Unexpected, but haven't finished it as the dvd was j-ump-y & j-erk-y on the screen. Very annoying. Maybe I'll try it on my PC, I want to watch it cause Lau Ching Wan is in it.

cheers,
Gabe

Heroes Among Heroes
King of Beggars (MegaStar)
Dragon Forever
Tempting Heart
Expect The Unexpected
Legend of speed
The New Legend of Shaolin
Savior of the Soul
A Moment of Romance

That's it.

Thanks for the opinions you guys...

sexygal910 - try Pokerindustries.com - that's where I found the first 10 or so in my list.

I have King of Beggars, but I wanted the MegaStar disc instead of the crappy Mei Ah one I have. Hope it's better.

Nooooooooo!

Not the legend of flying swordsman, in fact I have the dvd and I only finished half of it for I can't go through the second half, it's that bad. But I don't mean to discourage you, to each it's own they say.

Somebody didn't like legend of speed, and that's one of my most watched dvd, cause I like import cars and all. Congrats on the big buy though, and you better go get yourself a case of jolT cola or sumthin, that's ton's of dvd's to keep you up all night.....

damn Trigger, didn't you just have another 50+ order a month ago?

Some of the titles I didn't even know were out on DVD. Is Bare-Footed Kid a DVD? Which True Love movie did you get? (there's a few with this name I think).

Most of the films in the list are pretty good. I'd only question a few - Sex Phone Girl, Rules of the Game, Sword Stained With Royal Blood, Sound From the Dark, There's A Secret in my Soup (based on a true story I guess) and Cop on a Mission I haven't seen but I'd be surprised if any of them were any good. The others I've seen and all are actually pretty watchable, though I don't enjoy movies such as Expect The Unexpected.

Trigger. One day you're gonna stub a toe and have to stay at home for a few weeks to watch your whole "to watch" stack. And you'd better not watch all those cat 3 titles when Shu Qi's round the house

Bare Footed Kid is a DVD and I got it from Poker... we'll see. I'll let you know on the quality if you want. True Love I got from DDDHouse and I hope I didn't get the wrong one - I saw a few positive reviews on it and it sounded interesting - although I couldn't tell you what the reviews said at this point. Info overload.

As for Sex Phone Girl - it was a weekly cheap sale and the cover looked interesting. Electrical Girl turned out to be a decent comedy, so I thought I'd try this. If it's just straight up porn, I'll pass it on. The rest of the questionables you mention I guess I just read some decent reviews (or at least mixed reviews) and they were probably cheap so I nabbed em. Perhaps I'll take the comments you guys leave here as a guide for what order I watch them in.

Yang - Shu Qi likes to watch them with me.

trigger you said you got the wholesale price on your order??? how many did you order from DDDhouse 50? and did you wire the money to johnny or you just asked to have the wholesale price charged to your order? I ordered 50 and got 10 percent off my order but had to pay regular shipping, and didn't get the repeat customer shipping price...

He had me use a certain card and told me to send a follow up email to remind him. This was 2 days ago and I haven't heard back yet. I expect to hear back tonight or else I'll send off another letter. I was under the assumption that I'd have to wire him money. He gave me the repeat customer shipping price in the quote he gave me. (actually a little cheaper than that even).

Ahh, I'm glad to see lots of people like "Fly Me To Polaris". For the type of movie, I thought it might not be well recieved by some. It's a great movie for the "hopeless romantic" in us all. Up to its neck in romance movie cliches, but it works sooo well as such. And, of course, Cecilia balling will make it hard to fight back those tears. Romance films aren't my favorite, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

The only other film in the list I could comment on is Dragon Forever. Probably don't need to say too much about this. Makes a strong case for top spot on my Jackie list (with Miracles and Drunken Master II being its main contenders). Lots of laughs with Jackie, Sammo, and Biao and some great fights.

In one hour, you bought almost half the amount of DVDs I've purchased over 2.5 years. I'll use this smiley because it's the only one that looks like it's green with envy.

I'm Your Birthday Cake is lightweight romantic fluff with Chingmy Yau in her sweet but sexy chipmunk persona rather than the femme fatale hit lady of Naked Killer. Definitely recommended for Chingmy fans, and Michael Wong is actually pretty funny playing a gaylo. (I would have voted for Chingmy in the asian babe poll but couldn't find a decent pic to post.)

SeX Phone Girl (aka first Pinup Girl of China) is one of those glamour pictorials starring Keung Ka-Ling, no plot to speak of and the photograpy is inconsistent.
HOWEVER, Keung Ka-Ling has the cutest smile and dimples and other attributes I could point out. She first knocked me out in the silly Erotic Ghost Story:Perfect Match, and has some wonderful scenes with another gorgeous actress in Romance of the West Chamber, one of the classier Cat III period films.

Trigger, with all that stuff coming in from abroad don't be surprised if the Homeland Security boys start keeping an eye on your mail.
