"Vive L'Amour"... Taiwanese masterpiece

Hello all,

I watched for the third time "Vive L'Amour", the 1994 Golden Lion winner ( Venice film festival ). I REALLY enjoyed it and look forward to other Ming-liang Tsai films in the future.

My graphic review for "Vive L'Amour" can be accessed by CLICKING HERE

I am especially interested in The River. I will be buying The Hole on DVD very soon. Anyone seen this or any of his films ?

I have Vive L'Amour on DVD as well.

And I just saw The River last night. It's now being released in US theaters, despite the fact that the film came out about 5 years ago in Taiwan.

My wrote a very brief review of it last night here:

Tsai show a lot of taboos in the film that may offend people. If you want to know more, let me know.

Hey Gary,

Could you please tell me a bit about the pic/sound quality of the DVD? I read your review which states the picture is 1.66:1 non-anamorphic, but not much else.

I really liked Tsai's "Rebels Of The Neon God".

Even though it is Fox/Lorber I thought the image and sound were fine. Quite good actually... it's not anamorphic, but it doesn't affect the appreciation of the film at all.

It's pretty clean and I wouldn't let this stop you from buying the DVD...
