In the Mood for Love French DVD Mah Jong Question

I figured I'd start a new thread since the previous was about not receiving this DVD. Now that I have it though I have a question.

Does anyone know how to play and win that Mah Jong game on the second disc? If you can win there's supposedly some kind of additional easter egg. The minute long demo does absolutely nothing for learning how to play since it's just a group of people playing at top speed. You can't even see their tiles to know what they're doing.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How to win at mah-jong

Lots of answers in this thread, including a web site

http://www.mhvf.net/forum/asian/posts/108223076.html

Unfortunately, I'm One Disc Shy of an Edition Limitee. So, I had to
satisfy myself with playing with the extras on disc 1.
(see following)

I got my disc Saturday. It WAS shipped 9/4. That's the woo-hoo.

The boo hoo, Disc 2 doesn't play $#!! My Sampo does not recognize the disc.
It tries to load but eventually gives up and says 'No Disc'. I tried both
the region 2 and bypass settings but no luck. Pum, what did you
end I doing with yours (what player you using)? I don't want to even try and get this replaced from amazon.fr. I'm hoping it's my Sampo and when I eventually get my Malata
(now sooner than latter) , it will play it. Any ideas?
Feeling Job-like in this regard...

Dleedlee,

Thanks for the link. I'm sorry to hear you're second disc won't play. If it's any consolation I can confirm that the second disc plays fine in a Malata so, when you get one, you'll have no trouble.

Cheers!

3. next, the green circles.

4. the 2 similar "marble" tiles uppermost right.

Disk 2 questions

Sorry to drag this old horse out again but
I finally got a replacement copy from Amazon.fr and was able to watch
disk two including the hidden video of TLCW by doing the 'Title, 6' method.
However, I was playing around with the mahjong game and could not figure out
how to move the tiles around. I could use the arrow keys and select a tile.
But hitting 'enter' didn't do anything. So, what's the trick ? Do you try to move the tiles
or are you supposed to just 'select' them in a proper sequence?

Also, on the same menu, are you supposed to be able to select Rules for playing
Mah Jong right below the short video of people playing? It looks like a menu item but
I can't seem to select it.

One last thing, the text for the menu for one of the videos, the Making of video,
I think, is in German, even when the English language option is originally selected.
Did anyone else notice this?

k....

Tiles can't be moved around.... No offense but this is NOT a REAL Majong game.... heck, its just sum western-exotic interpretation of it.... which is... cute, from my eastern perspective.... My aunties won't be too amused though....

anyways.... read me post again...

All u need to do is to select 2 similar tiles (Highlighting it and pressing ENTER) to turn them over CONSECUTIVELY... do it for the 4 pairs and viola! If u really need help, print a screen for me and i'll point out the tiles......

that silly lil "How to Play" bit was most unhelpful. And no, the "Making of" is not in german.... bizarre.

have fun!

Actually, this game is (I think) officially called "Shanghai", which traditionally uses Mahjong tiles, and has been around for a while.

Thanks, I missed the key word 'Consecutively'. Odd I can't select the How to Play.
On the 'Making Of' I meant that the menu description text is in German. Obviously,
my player must still be a little finicky with this disk but I won't complain, at least I can
view it this time.
One of these days I'll eventually get a Malata. My order was cancelled in the fall when
avdeals temporarily stopped carrying it. I've been leery of replacing the order as it
seems the quality control is still suspect. I've been reading a lot about failed power supplys
and such and returns and replacements seem to be a big pain to deal with. I assume I
have to pay the return shipping costs.
