Shaolin Soccer: New 112 min version?
I hear rumours that Shaolin Soccer has cleared for the China market, and they're releasing a special 112 min version of it to counter video pirates. So don't rush out to get the DVD yet... (if there is one available)

I have seen the test screening for SHAOLIN SOCCER. As far as I can tell, they just showed a print of the film the way it is, credits, music and original language. Of course they do this and than ask people how they should change it.
Get the DVD now. Don't wait. Disney\Miramax\Dimension is going to make it hard for those who live in North America to get this on DVD in it's original form. They have started already by telling online retailers they can't carry it. The same with Iron Monkey. Vanian |

Shaolin Soccer or God of Cookery
Hey all,
I'm about to place another order (my second!) to HiviZone. I've never seen a Steven Chow movie before. Should I get Shaolin Soccer, or God of Cookery? GoC is slightly higher rated than SS on imdb.com; do you think it's the better film? |
I would say go with SS over GoC but that's just my troll like opinion.
I was a little disappointed with God of Cookery. Of his newer stuff I would go with SS or King of Comedy before GoC. Also the disc of SS just blows away the GoC disc in terms of extras and picture and sound quality. Of his older movies you might want to try Forbidden City Cop , From Beijing With Love or Fight Back to School. The dvd's are so so in quality but are very watchable. The universe dvd of From Beijing is actually a decent disc. I don't get as hung up on the dvd quality as much as some other reviewers. Just as long as the movie is good and I can tell what's going on I am a happy troll. So far I have enjoyed every Chiau movie I have seen tho so I might be a bit biased :). Clint |

[/B] But starting with both of them GOC and Shaolin Soccer is a good movie, the first time I saw GoC, I watched it again. It was that good. There were tons of funny parts in that flick, it beats most US comedies nowadays. Just my .02 |
