Scent of the Green Papaya, R1, disappointed....

I just read at dvdpricesearch that "Scent of the Green Papaya" is scheduled for release on DVD on Dec. 18th by Columbia TriStar. At first I was really happy, but then I read the description: full frame, and no extras mentioned. Full frame and no extras for $29.99 (MSRP)? That sucks.

I know that the French DVD was pretty loaded, but the feeling I've got from reading about it lately is that it's OOP. Is that the case?

Anyway, I'm curious as to what other people think about this.

According to Dvd file it will include an anamorphic and full screen transfer.

According to a customer-service rep at Cinestore, the French edition of "Scent of the Green Papaya & Cyclo" is in "reprint".

Based on the search result at DVDPriceSearch, it looks like Tran Anh-Hung's first and third films, "Scent of the Green Papaya" and "Vertical Ray of the Sun" are being issued by Columbia but not his second film "Cyclo".

There might not be a US edition of Cyclo, but the region 0 HK disc from Mega Star is pretty good quality.

I agree that Megastar's "Cyclo" DVD was pretty good (as far as HK DVDs go). I still want to try to pick up the French version one of these days for the short films that are included.

Scent of the Green Papaya & Cyclo R2 - Arte vs. GCTHV Editions

Amazon.fr now lists two editions of this boxset: one by Arte and one by GCTHV. Does anyone know how they differ? Does the GCTHV edition also have the same two extra short-films as the Arte edition?

Scratch this I think it's just Fullscreen which is the way it's supposed to be I believe.
