The 6th Day with Scwarzenegger -- Is there a better version out there?

Is region 2 a much better version of our region 1 ? Or maybe others available as well?

From DVD Review UK :
We recently reported that the Region 2 release of Arnold Schwarzeneggerfs cloning thriller The 6th Day (2000) would have more extras than its Region 1 counterpart (see our US review for details). It turns out that this is quite true ? so much for the idea that copies are inferior to the originals! Itfs not often R2 discs are better-featured than the US versions, but you wonft catch us complaining.
The R2 DVD of The 6th Day, in addition to the composerfs audio commentary, RePet infomercial, TV spots and standard trailer and production notes, will also contain eThe Future Is Comingf making-of featurette, nine (!) behind-the-scenes featurettes, three storyboard-to-film comparisons and a pair of animatronic comparisons.
But on a German review page it was stated that most of the extra features aren't worth watching. Only the nine SF/X making-ofs are said to be great.

I own the R2 (UK) release and it's very nice. There is also a version out in R2 (Japan) which has less extras but includes a DTS soundtrack.

codefree, how's the transfer? Ive heard that many of these region 2 dvds have subpar transfers compared to their R1 counterparts. Is this true or false?

The transfer is as good as any other. I don't have the R1 version to compare it with though.

I looked on the box of the Japanese disc yesterday and the list of etras seemed to be identical. But I can be mistkane, as it only
stated a "making of" and not to the way it is presented.

It's my understanding that the Japanese version has less supplements than the UK version but includes a DTS soundtrack which the UK and US versions do not have. Perhaps the extras on the Japanese and US versions are the same. I only own the UK version though which as far I know has more featurettes than any other version (9). A fellow member mdx has the Japanese version I believe.

Also, does the UK version have moving menus or are they static?

Codefree : The UK version has the same extras as every other European Version (released by Columbia) as well.

Has anyone tried to listen to the music soundtrack without the composers commentary? When I enter that option in the special features menu, I still have to enter Play the movie and then I still get to hear the dialogue!
I own the region 2 version.

I have the r2-japan release and the dts track is quite good. I rented the r1 release to compare and the dts track was a good bit better. I don't remember the extras offhand, but I will be sure to check the disc when I get home tonight.

http://www.bensonsworld.co.uk/detail...=7000000062857 for about $23.38 U.S. Dollars including shipping.

Yes it does have animated menus. There is also a typo on the back that says it's only "stereo" when in fact it's DD 5.1!

Codefree or anyone. Do you guys know of a "cheaper" place to buy Breakdown with Kurt Russell & The Fifth Element Special 2-dvd edition. Both are r4 releases?

FYI, the 6th day r2/japanese 'deluxe edition' release has the following extras:

Making-of documentary - 'The Future is Coming'
animated storyboards
storyboard-to-film comparisons
'RePet' commercial
trailers (2 US versions, 1 international version, 2 Japanese versions and 1 Japanese teaser)
Cast & crew bios
Isolated music track w/ commentary by Trevor Rabin (DD5.1, w/Japanese subtitles)
