Any Spanish, South American, or Italian Online Retailers

First of all let me say that I have a very eclectic taste in films and a Multi
Region Player. I enjoy browsing to see what's outside the U.S.

I have gotten some Region 4 (Austrailia) DVDs and would like to investigate Region 4-
South America.

I also know that www.dvdgo.com is a Region 2 Spanish etailer (haven't tried them
though) and am curious if there are other etailers from that area as well.

The Inquiry for Italian retailers (Also Region 2 I think) was simply thrown in
because I didn't feel the need to start a new thread. And, the Italian films that I have
seen, I have enjoyed.

I just placed an order at http://www.veo-veo.com for some Spanish DVDs. I haven't received them yet but they had the best combination of price and shipping.

There's also a decent Spanish DVD price comparison tool at http://www.mundodvd.com/

I suggest http://www.dvdland.it
[email protected]

They are serious, and the prices are good (expecially shipping rates: for USA 1/2 DVD 4.59 Euro, 3/5 DVD 6.14 Euro, 6/10 DVD 8.72 Euro). Unfortunately the site is almost in italian, but if you need a translation or other contact me, I'm italian, I'll glad to help you.

There are even other good retailers, but unfortunately they don't ship outside Europe.

For a web translator, if you haven't tried it before...

Babelfish

Just plug in the url and select the language conversion. It does a fair job in the translation... most of the time.

Note!! I had to use the following url to get the dvdland site to work...

just paste this into babelfish:
http://www.dvdland.it/index2.html

cheers,
Gabe

Thanks for all of the URLs. Its fun expanding my DVD horizons beyond Region 1.

I also find that I can pick up a little foreign language as I'm navigating the sites.

If you even like having suggestions about titles, ask (even if there are not so many italian movies on dvd).

Spanish DVD retailers

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there are other Spanish DVD retailers out there besides DVDGO.COM? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

VAT Removed by DVDGO?

Do dvdgo and other Spanish etailers remove the VAT on orders from US customers? Also, anyone care to recommend either La Comunidad or Torrente?

i've ordered italian dvds from www.cdbox.it . they're quite reliable. they even gave me a free Frank Sinatra/Bing Crosby X-Mas CD with my order of 2 dvds. not that i'll ever listen to it, but it's the thought that counts! very fast shipping too. they're site is in italian only (and so is there customer service), but i managed with babelfish

I only have experiences with dvdgo and they're among the best I ever dealt with. When the guy from ups only left a notice that he'd come again the next day dvdgo phoned me that evening to make sure that everything is allright. And they're fast, too.

1. I live in the US and my last invoice from DVDGo shows a 5% VAT deduction that is usually included in their prices.

2. I highly recommend "La Comunidad" (aka Commonwealth). I have the R2 Spanish double disk CE. The extras are all in Spanish but the main feature has English subtitles. The movie is a black comedy about the residents of an apartment building battling over a dead man's lottery prize. Carmen Maura is superb in the lead role of a new tenant who accidentally discovers the money. If you liked "Waking Ned Devine" you'll love "La Comunidad".

3. I also have "Torrente" (Stupid Arm of the Law). I can give this one a cautious recommendation. Santiago Segura plays a politically incorrect alcoholic cop investigating some drug traffickers. The Spanish DVD is R0 and loaded with extras. Only the main feature has English subtitles. A sequel (Torrente 2) is now available on DVD and is considered to be a better movie, but I don't have it yet.

I have only used DVDgo in Spain. I have found them to be very fast and reliable with customer service as good as Blackstar in the UK.

I'm confused: their website indicates (in the checkout process) a VAT reduction of 16%.

A note about Manga Video titles: The subtitles on their DVDs are not removeable. Well, at least on the ones I bought anyway.

Re: Any Spanish, South American, or Italian Online Retailers

Hi All,

I have just joined the forum.

I order italian DVDs from Internet Bookshop Italia (don't let the name put you off they sell more than books). I would have posted the URL but I haven't been on the forum long enough for it to allow me to do so.

They have quite a wide range of DVDs have quick delivery and they deliver to the USA.

I am in the process of working my way through all the seasons of Distretto di Polizia...I'm loving it. It is helping me to improve my italian.

Regards

Ian

I dont recommend the Torrente trilogy - studid movies and a waste of money. And La Communidad is a good film, but not worth the money to choose the import over the ntsc region 1 dvd called Common Wealth.

The first Spanish dvd u should get is julio medem's Tierra since its hard to find and not available in other countries.
