Great film, one of those "lost" classics. Good example of a HK wuxai/swordplay film more meditave on plot than action, some twenty odd years before Crouching Tiger. Nice cinematography, and although its not crazy with action (like say Duel to the Death) its so well made in its other elements, its central theme, action doesnt matter. Its more about the internal action, the paradox of being a skilled swordsman is that you have to kill to prove your skill so once you become a master whats left, but to wait until someone better defeats you, just like you did your predocessor. And, oh boy, what a finale.
