Just as an info Amazon.co.jp has started selling Region 2 dvd's on its website.I havent had time to check it out but I got an email saying they have stocked with dvd's.

Use altavistas babelfish on it.
It won't make it extremely readable, but it will be much better than the japanese (if you can't read japanese)

yeah...I hope a translation option is installed for Amazon Japan (anybody know the price of Afterglow, or if its even listed?)....I wish I could dig up some other sites instead of sazuma, cdjapan, laserexchange and rpm......Yes well...

can US residents order from either amazon or tower's japanese site? I'm interested in getting the R2 stargate 16x9/DTS disc which both places list for 6800 yen/$55 USD

Don't know of any great translators. Jim Breen's page is good but it's more designed for those studying Japanese. You can paste in a page of text and it gives you each word translated - so not a word for word, sentence by sentence thing. It may be of use to someone though. It's at:-

I must admit....I tried various way to find that punk....Even under director, but it was a blank....I miss my old Japanese friend as well....(I deleted my post to not look that much of an ass )

He he - I searched for Niru in katakana and got it first time. I then searched for "nil by mouth" in English and got it too. Thought it might be called something else in Japanese though but it seems not. I'm from English by the way, not Japanese as you might be suggesting.

I've only ever got 2 R2 Japanese DVDs for the wife - 1 in a swap and one in auction (T2 and Leon). Both after the better R1s came out and so the price had dropped a bit. As you know there are virtually no discounts and the postage is huge in Japan - it's not the best place in the world to have to get disks from!!
