Damn ... how far out? Might be worthwhile to plan a future vacation ... (not that I want to go to LA).

Edit: I just saw ... May.

My daughter lives in LA, and I bought tickets to see Apocalyptica & Lacuna Coil with her there. If the show gets cancelled, I'll still be able to hang out with her. Last fall, I paid around $250 to fly out there.

I checked prices for July to bring her out for Pitchfork, but those prices aren't discounted (yet).

from Psi in another thread

For anyone interested, Wyze sells 50 disposable face masks for $30. These are not N95 masks, but the material is 3 layers and has >95% efficiency. This is the kind you often see worn in Japan and other Asian countries. Wyze is a reputable company. They sell mostly small electronics like cameras and smart light bulbs, but now for Covid-19 they have a no-touch thermometer ($54) and these face masks. They are trying to help out and not making profit from selling them.

I ordered just the masks when this was posted and just got my shipping notice. Unfortunately, even though it shows Fed-Ex shipping expected delivery a couple of States away is the 28th so suspect actually "Smart Post". Others check your email as they seem to actually be shipping. Earlier today I was about the only person waiting in line at the Grocery without a mask.

Lucky you. I guess I'll need to look like a really bad Bandit from some crappy western movie longer than I expected.

I also found this listed at some site: https://www.dhvani.com/pages/freemasks
They are promoting a mask for every American and running a gofundme page but well short of their $10 million dollar goal.

I take it the free mask will be sent regardless of their GoFundMe since it's not doing well. At least it's another option.

I know Krispy Kreme stores have been giving away up to 5 dozen of doughnuts each Monday to healthcare workers. I would assume it would be any frontline workers, but I know my sister was told healthcare. Not sure how long they are doing this, but it has been going on a couple of weeks.

Tomorrow(Friday 4/24) Wendy's is giving away free 4 piece nuggets to anyone.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 Deals

hospital/first responder meal deals

Krispy Kreme free boxes (1-3 so far, varies) of a dozen glazed on Mondays.
McDonalds free meals (above) daily thru May 5th.
Taco Bell 50% off anything, up to $25, thru May (at least in DE/MD/WV/PA).
Zoup! free soup on Mondays.

Trevor 04-26-20 08:36 AM

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 Deals

And crap, now Checkers/Rally’s is offering a free combo meal thru May 5th as well. Supposedly you have to be in uniform, but I wasn’t and got one. With many staff changing at work because of this virus, I doubt they’ll enforce it, just have an ID or something.

They now have KN95 masks at wyze now. You can get 10 for $29.99 and 20 for $59.99. I got a pack of 10 for when I run out of toilet paper and have to go into a grocery store.

rduncan 05-06-20 03:16 PM

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 Deals

I did get my original order of 50 masks from wyze.com after a pretty long mail time. They are good enough for me when I go out to the Grocery or when I had to pick up some repair parts at Lowe's yesterday. You should see the comments at woot.com as they have a pack of 50 masks at $37.99 and folks are up in arms over the "price gouging". Everything from "they bought them from Amazon for $16.99 two weeks ago to "selling Chinese Crap for 7 times the price it’s worth.

I've seen it at WalMart and a local grocery store every time I've gone in the last two weeks, so I have plenty.

I haven’t been out shopping too much, but in the 10 or so times I’ve been in a grocery store or Dollar Tree, no luck.

My hospital has a little satellite pharmacy set up in a thoroughfare for employees to be able to buy basic over the counter medications. My office was almost out of hand sanitizer, so I bought some there.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 Deals

I haven't seen sanitizer and last checked yesterday morning at the grocery but have not ventured out to a CVS or Walgreens.

However, for those wanting generic face masks, I presume similar to the initial offering by Wyze, I see Newegg has the 50-Pack LANSWE 3-Layer Disposable Single Use Face Masks for $30 - $5 off in cart = $25 with free shipping.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19 Deals

Checking flights between LA and Chicago on Spirit's website, and it's still very cheap. Right now, most tickets for the flights through October are around $22 to $25 non-stop each way. Need to make plans for my daughter to come visit sometime later in the summer. They were down to $14 at one point.

both Target, Home Depot, and Bath & Body Works have all had sanitizer in stores around me. I have gallons of germex refills now. You can also on occasion find them online at target or bath & body

^You're responding to a post from seven months ago, when hand sanitizer, toiler paper, paper towels, etc. were still hard to find in many areas. That's hardly been the case recently.
