Sports Authority sale in all locations.
As you may know, Sports Authority has filed for bankruptcy and is now having a sale on everything they're selling. Here's what I got in an email:
Edit: Some additional info:
LOYALTY PROGRAM: Customers’ outstanding rewards will expire on May 25, 2016, at which time the League program will terminate.
CREDIT CARDS: The Sports Authority credit card can be used to make purchases through May 25, 2016, at which time it will no longer be accepted as a valid form of payment.
WARRANTIES: Existing warranties for merchandise purchased at a Sports Authority store or on SportsAuthority.com remain in effect, and Asurion will continue covering all products purchased under our extended service plans without change or interruption. For more information, please visit www.asurion.com/ecp, or call toll-free at 1-866-882-8512.
EXCHANGES/RETURNS: You can continue to make exchanges or returns at Sports Authority stores through June 25, 2016.
GIFT CARDS: Gift cards will be honored through June 28, 2016; however we are no longer selling new gift cards.

That's generally how going out of business sales work. And all the good stuff gets bought by idiots who think they're getting a deal before the prices actually get good. My local location actually has been going out of business for a couple of months now, and the discounts are just reaching 40%-60% off, but the place has been totally picked over. There's not much left that's worth buying, and the few things that I could find that might be worth buying were still not that cheap.

Figures. I was just in there Monday. They still had a lot of stuff at the store I was at, minus what looked like was a gadget/electronics section.

Most companies shutting down usually now employ liquidation companies that specialize in the gradual final clearance sales. The great bargains you could once find at a store shutting down thirty or forty years ago are gone.
The only thing that might be attractively priced are items so physically big that shipping and moving them wholesale wouldn't work out.

Exactly. We looked at an elliptical that was $799 a couple of months ago, before they started the markdown. When we went this weekend, it was $1599 with a "bargain" $400 off. So $1199 for something that was $799 previously. No thanks.

I witnessed an employee changing price tags a few days ago ... However, they were marking things UP. So, the Nike shoes that had a tag for 69.99 (and 30% off) were now $79.99 (and 30% off). They deserve to close.

Re: Sports Authority sale in all locations.
Checked my local store this weekend - my son and I discovered that local sports team items (Warriors, Sharks, and Giants) were not on sale at all! The sign said something like "These items not eligible for discount". What they meant was "since we know these items are still in demand, we hope you pay full price for them".
They did have a decent Nike exercise shirt for $20, but I went home and found it online for $15. I'm not even going to bother going back.

Yep, tons of people fall for that Marketing 101 crap. No wonder so many people have no savings. One last big cash grab for Sports Authority.

Just a quick observation. I went into the local store a couple days ago and noticed some items were really picked over and many of the fixtures had sold stickers already stuck to them (including the shopping carts). Other items look like they had not even been touched. I like their over the calf socks (all sport and Adidas) for wearing under motorcycle boots but at teh time looked like they would be giving them away seeing all the pegs still fileld and will try later for even bigger discount. I also was looking for freeze dried camping food and the entire section was picked clean. Go figure.
