You can't buy it. You have to go one day, but a ticket for a future showing of a different movie, go another day, do the same, then turn both tickets in for a marathon tickets. I can't be in a theater that long, I'm watching Anna Karerina with mom today

When I use my android phone, I see current-day films, but not future ones. How do I buy an advanced ticket?

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Check in any movie with the expensive showtime ($12.50) on your mobile app, purchase future showing of a different movie at kiosk. (I suggest you go there at evening.) Do this twice if you want to see LotR Trilogy for $25 ($12.50 x 2 days), then go to customer service to trade in 2 tickets for one marathon ticket.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I went today and checked in for Red Dawn

Then bought a ticket for The Hobbit next weekend. Super easy. Easier than when I used my normal credit card actually

Gonna head back tomorrow and check in for something else and grab another ticket for next weekend.

By the way, if the check in page/app doesn't have a particular movie, call MP and they do a "manual reservation" for you, as long as it's a "regular 2D" movie, no IMAX/3D or anything with other letters after it lol Gonna watch The Citadel and The Other Son this way.

My wife went to go see Twilight today and it wouldn't let her check in. She ended up having to pay for her ticket. Total BS.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Why didn't she call them? Quick 2 minute phone call and they would have loaded the card for her. Hopefully she kept the receipt because 99% she can email them a pic of the receipt and they will reimburse her the cost of the ticket to the card used to pay for the membership.

But seriously, first course of action when something doesn't work, call the company >> do nothing except post on a bulletin board

This. I'm sure MoviePass would have taken care of it.

Turns out the account had to be reset and it worked. She was still able to get another movie for that day so it's all good.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Only one chain is showing Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away 3D. Cheapest 3D is $12 and most expensive 2D is $11 and I didn't want to waste a ticket for a dollar, so I handed over $1 cash total for the movie. Then used the MP card for the rest.

They won't do exchanges, though. So Regal and AMC won't do exchanges (refunds to credit card only), but CineMark/Century does. Going to find out this weekend how the IMAX places handle things. Wonder if I can buy one ticket, turn it in, and "pay" the difference to avoid having to buy twice, exchange once.

I did a manual reservation today for The Citadel and in my Viewing History shows I went to see Forrest Gump

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I got an invite and after some pondering, decided to pass...it's $34.99 per month in my area, meaning I'd have to see at least 4 movies a month to break even. Most months I don't see that many, and some months I don't go at all, so I decided to hold off for now (they're building a Cinemark about 10 minutes from my house next year, so I might jump back in then).

All that said, if you're a frequent moviegoer this appears to be a great deal...my only worry would be if they're able to profit enough to keep it in business without having to jack up prices/limit how many or what films you can see.

I'd definitely be out at $34.99. I was able to get in at a promotional rate of $24.99. At that price it's a good deal for me.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I pay $30 And I tried to get an invite for months, sigh. Tickets go as low as $7 for Matinees here, so I figure I need about 4 movies to break even. My first month I saw 10 movies, and this month so far I have 7 with two tickets in hand for future showings, and for $32 I will have at the end of the month two IMAX (one in 3D) and 3 3D tickets plus other movies. The $30 covers most 3D movies, there's a limited release Cirque du Soleil one that I had to shell out $1 per ticket extra for (because I didn't want to waste a whole separate ticket over $1 difference). Tickets here are ~$11 regular price.

Looks like the price went from $40 to $30 a month in D.C.

Are you locked in at the $40 rate though?

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Has anyone tried exchanges/refunds at Carmike or The Grand theaters? Although it is pretty easy to check in for a late show and catch the IMAX for $2 more.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Around here, you can't do refund and exchanges with Regal nor AMC. Only Century/CineMark allow them. The other two have a strict refund to credit card only stance.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I checked in/picked up tickets for future showings of movies I didn't care to see and then exchanged them for two tickets for a show that I will take my kids to tomorrow (@ Cinemark). Since the ticket price difference was $8 and they asked for the original purchase card, is that $8 gone?

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I never give them the card, but do you really want money back from MoviePass?

So the Regal Mafia runs the three IMAX Theaters, so no exchanges, so I'd have to pay $9 to see IMAX 3D (and $6.50 for regular IMAX) and I said screw it and so I'm watching a double feature of Monsters, Inc 3D and The Hobbit 3D next Friday for free

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

So would I just tell them that I don't have the card - forcing them to issue some kind of concession voucher?

I wasn't expecting money back from MoviePass - more that I was wondering if $8 was sitting on the card like a credit balance.
