Just signed up, can't wait to go! Do you have to wait to get your card in the mail before you can use it?

As far as I know, yes. Your membership doesn't start until you activate your card.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

If I lived a LOT closer to the theater I could see something like this being useful if I went to more then four movies a month ( currently $7.50) which now does not happen at all aside from maybe a couple months during the summer. If I was close enough one could just hop out and go see anything that looked entertaining and even in the evening hours which would normally be thirty dollars alone for three films.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I think we all have invites left. No idea if anyone ever used mine. I certainly never got a free month. Don't know if there is a way to tell how many invites have been used...

As for Moviepass, BEST BARGAIN EVER! Well worth the $30/month I pay... I hope they don't raise rates, or if they do, I hope they raise em for new members only and keep renewals at the same rate...

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Just got an email with a promotion for ONE free month with 1 year membership. Expires Midnight EST on Friday. There does not appear to be a special link needed, or promo code. But if someone wants an invite, let me or one of the other members know. We'd certainly appreciate it.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I checked in for The 42 ($13) and ordered The Man of Steel IMAX 3D ($13.50) @ the Kiosk. The ticket came through.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

They recently have added 50 cents to the movie ticket price. In theaters where the ticket price is $11.50 they will add $12.00 to the card. I found out by it going fully through for a 3D ticket. Sadly IMAX is not that cheap here, $6 out of pocket for IMAX and IMAX 3D.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Well, IMAX 3D showtime was only for AM for just $13.50 then add $5.50 more for the PMs. IMAX 2D is $11.25 @ 12:50pm showtime.

I got an invite for this, but I don't think it's really worth it for me. I usually go Saturday/Sunday mornings before noon when all movies are $6.

For GatorDeb and IncrediPinoy

Has Moviepass discovered this ingenious way of "gaming the system" and penalized you for it? Personally, I think it'd be worth it if I could only execute it as flawlessly. I may end up PM'ing you GatorDeb, if that's okay with my city and state for tips about IMAX and 3D as I am a big fan of both.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Nope they won't penalized you because they don't have access to Theater's system, just the mobile check-in app and the amount you paid.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Used mine a couple times so far, and each time I just go to the main counter and swipe my Regal rewards card and my moviepass card. I've been unsuccessful both times at the kiosk, but that's fine with me, want to make sure I can still earn rewards.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

We saw Man of Steel, Star Trek, and Iron Man 3 in IMAX 3D the last couple of months. Each time, we just asked to use the MoviePass card to pay and then the difference on another card. It's like $6 out of pocket.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I was bored today, so just for kicks, I called the # on the back of the card to check my account information. I have an available balance of $5. I'm not sure where the extra credit came from. As an experiment, I checked it for a $10 movie, then checked the balance again. As expected, the available balance became $15. So it didn't add anything extra. BUT last night I checked-in for Dark Knight Rises, which came back for a few days at $3 (AMC special). It added $10 credit to the card. So apparently they can't tell when movies have special promo rates.

I will cancel my subscription when the time is up since I always attend advance screening for free.

I wonder if then you can pay the $3 for the ticket (by cash/card) and then use the card for concessions. Not sure what kind of transaction it would show up as.

I think the concession stand charge may show up differently... I probably won't try that one...

Funny you mentioned that, since I have attended 3 free screenings this week, and was thinking of canceling after my year as well. I saw:
