People who have Comcast internet.
Got something in the mail today about Blast internet speed for 69 dollars, when I pay around $62 or so for the performance tier, but the extra $$$ is renting out the modem and taxes.
So I called them up about that, it was very very vague on the promotion about that as you need TV with that too, which I don't have. As I have DirecTV.
Here is the deal though, there is a promotion for existing customers, they said you are in luck. You can get blast for 3 months (was late on the promotion so for me it will end on Oct 3rd). No extra charges or anything it's just a free upgrade and if you don't like it you can just say you don't want the blast and go back to your old plan.
Performance: Downloads up to 12 Mbps, uploads up to 2 Mbps with PowerBoost. Which I've had for years now, but for free you can get this now:
Blast: Downloads up to 20 Mbps, uploads up to 2 Mbps with PowerBoost.
Sucks that upload didn't change but for free, what the hell, might as well call them up and and get some faster internet for free.
1.4 megs per sec is fine with me but free is free. Just wanted to give you a guys a head up.
12 mbps compared to 20 is insane. In order to max out that full speed I have to d/l some linux distros and massive amounts of porn on torrents to see if I can actually top out the full speed. Funny though, I'm going to do it for the hell of it then they will kick me off of comcast because I hit over their "magical" 200 gigs per month :-) Fuck the download speed, let's crank up the upload.
Edit: the letter I got was to call 1866-563-4502 -------- Go into the menu, hit 3 I think and add or change your plan. Talked to 2 different ladies and they will hook you up in like 3-4 minutes.

Re: People who have Comcast internet.
Comcat speeds and prices vary greatly by city. I have been getting 20mbs down/ ~4 mbs up for $34, I also get TV/HD package so its a package deal. Recently got an email that said my speeds have been upgraded and to power cycle my modem to initiate new speeds. Now I get 25 mbs down/ 4 mbs up, same montly price.

Re: People who have Comcast internet.
Thanks, I just called and was told that it would be 10 dollars more if I wanted the Blast service and will put me hold and check into it. Before she put me on hold I told her that if it will cost me more then I don't want it. She came back and said since i was an existing customer she would give it to me free for 3 months and after the grace period, the bill will be 10 dollars more. I said ok and thank you very much. After 3 months I'll just call and see if they will extend it, if not, say goodbye to Blast.
Thanks again for letting me know.
