Star Trek Seasons $12.99 on Itunes

All seasons of Star Trek{TOS, DS9, VOY, and Enterprise} are currently $12.99 each on Itunes. Not as good as having the DVD's, but still a good price.

If you have a multi region DVD player most Star Trek series seasons can be purchased for around $20 each on Amazon.co.uk.

No way. I still want the physical media. People really buy tv seasons on iTunes? Wow.

If you buy kids shows, it can be WAY cheaper to buy on iTunes than DVDs. For example, a Little Einstein’s DVD usually has 3 episodes and costs about $15. Episodes cost $2 each on iTunes. You also have a lot more episodes to choose from on iTunes. The same holds True for Dora and Diego and a number of other kids shows which are kind of pricy on DVD.

If I had a more current (read: media-friendlier) computer or an Apple TV unit, I'd be far more likely to buy TV episodes/seasons from iTunes. For something like Star Trek, I'd still prefer physical media, but that's the collector mentality conditioned in me over a lifetime of associating merchandising acquisition with fandom.

One thing I did download already was The History Channel's special The Last Stand of the 300. The DVD is priced between $15-$20 and I was able to download it from iTunes for $3.99. It's not something I'm going to re-watch with any regularity anyway, and I don't think there are any bonus features to speak of on the DVD, so this was just the kind of release where a digital download was favorable to me. Back on topic, I'm not a Voyager fan in the least and have no intention of buying the DVD releases of that series. I would, however, like to have a couple episodes ("Flashback" with Sulu; the one with the suicidal Q; maybe some of the Barclay appearances). I can't be so selective with tangible releases, but I can with iTunes.

me as well... while I do enjoy the convenience of streaming, etc and for cheap rentals.. from an "owning" perspective, I will always prefer physical media.. buying rights to something.. seems less solid ... like I don't really own it.. I am just borrowing it.. and someone else can take it from me ... I know things can be stolen.. but I mean w/o "stealing" it from me..

I see physical media going away within a few years and I started to sell all of my DVDs I have had for the past 13 years. I'll hold on to my BRs for a few more years.
