Re: Huge Marvel Omnibus Deal - Amazon $14.99
They could be unloading these because of the ipad, most of this stuff will be avalable on the ipad for a lot less then $14.99, if not then this is a huge price mistake, I hope some orders go through.

I've had price mistakes cancelled on Amazon before on a cell phone. Honestly you just never know
I don't think the iPad has anything to do with these though.

That's what I think will happen. They will state that they did not get the stock. I've had this happen with some OOP DVDs that I've tried to order from them that had a 1 to 2 week availability.

Re: Huge Marvel Omnibus Deal - Amazon $14.99
The Omnbius books are extremely high quality, oversized printings with glossy ink, containing what is usually a large volume of books in one binding. These easily sell for $40 and up. The fact that the LIST PRICE for all of these magically went down to $14.99 rather than the real list price (usually at least $50 and up) being displayed with a massive percentage discount makes me think someone screwed up somewhere.
For example, Daredevil Vol 2 by Bendis has a $99.99 list price, retails on the high end for about $75, and can usually be had for about $45 if you buy on Amazon or if you buy from Borders with one of their large coupons.
It makes no sense to change the list price of such an item to $14.99, then discount that further to $8.xx.
Especially because when the Omnibus goes out of print, it will likely retain at least a value of $50ish. Previous Marvel Omnibus that have gone out of print easily sell on the secondary market for $100-200+ used.
I think its pretty clear this is a price mistake, its just a matter of whether Amazon will honor some, all, or none of the orders.

Re: Huge Marvel Omnibus Deal - Amazon $14.99
Sorry folks.
I have it on good authority from Diamond Book Distributors that the current state of Amazon.com – where most of the books in the Top 100 are now comics books, oversized graphic novels priced at $8.34 and $14.99 no matter what the original price (sometimes up to $125) – is a glitch.
And it’s being fixed.
In all likelihood if your order is being processed, then you’re getting those books at that price and someone will probably have to eat the difference. If not, expect to get a firm but polite email from Amazon explaining that you won’t be getting these books at the price you ordered them at – though you are welcome to purchase them at the usual discount rate.
It’s been a weird wild ride at Bleeding Cool today, with all sorts of people cming out of the woodwork to order new shelves worth of comics.
But if there is a lesson here, it’s this. Comics are too expensive, You make them cheaper, much cheaper, and people will buy them. Buy lots of them. Buy them more than anything on Amazon.
You don’t and they won’t. Unless it’s Twilight.

ok, so say these are mistakes. why then has the price not been fixed (in over a day that this has been floating around on the internet) and why did prices on some of them go down? amazon is usually extremely quick to jump on price issues when there mistakes. this seems like it has been up far too long for it to be some kind of mistake.

Looks like Amazon has caught their price mistake on most of these titles. I think it's safe to assume we'll be getting cancellation e-mails very soon.

If you got it for $15 or less, it's still a great deal. If you don't want it though (and got FSSS), just return to sender and Amazon will refund you.

Re: Huge Marvel Omnibus Deal - Amazon $14.99
Weird that some people are getting their orders outright cancelled and others (who ordered multiple copies of single books) are having their orders left open but having the multiple copies reduced to one copy. I ordered single copies of the books I wanted, all remain open, 3 have shipped.

That's what Amazon is claiming, but how does a price "mistake" happen on that many items? It must have been intentional to get rid of overstock, but they got more orders than they expected so are now panicking...

Mistakes like this happen very easily. And with the size of Amazon's inventory, I'm surprised mistakes like this don't last much longer. I'm sure there are many mistakes in their system right now, but they aren't high demand items with fanbases and bargain sites talking up the glitch.
