Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Nothing for me there, but thanks much for the head's up - good to know there will still be killer deals.
Curious what term you used in search to find those? |
Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Made a first purchase at YM (Sum 41 greatest), now just waiting to see how long it takes for my free selection to register to get my next, and maybe last, CD. Will see what happens (what deals get offered) if I cancel after that.
My second choice is MxPx...other than those two, I don't see much of anything I would take at the moment anyway. These two are kind of second choices as it is, nice to haves that are OK at $3.75 each. |

Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
What's with the artists that have no albums/dvds but their name comes up on "Related Artists?" I found Faith No More and Bruce Hornsby , and the Grateful Dead but no titles by these artists?
Is it possible these artists MIGHT be added? Or, just a screw up by BMG/yourmusic? |

Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Well, that is unfortunate. When I saw those artists, I became encouraged that yourmusic MIGHT have some advantages over BMG. I found far more left overs in my continued search through their database. They have a bunch of those left overs, in fact. One would think that they would weed out those blank artists. This was not an issue with BMG. The sites are so similar too. UGH! It would be nice though to have titles available from those artists...

Yourmusic has the same music catalog as BMG but it costs more money to purchase their CDs. :hscratch: |
Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Well, I ordered my one title, then 2 days later I was able to order my free selection (once my first purchase cleared). Nice to know the freebie is truly free, no tax, no shipping. But now that's done, I really don't see anything I like beyond what I already got at $7.48 for 2.

Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
One functional difference between the sites is the ease of finding new releases. With BMG it was impossible to get all of the new titles on one page (or two). With Yourmusic, just click on New Arrivals, then Sort New Arrivals By: Most Recent. You get repeat titles sometimes, but all of the new items appear within a page or two.

i would THINK that if they intend to stay in bueiness, they would try to get back with WEA & Sony/BMG.........

Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Agreed, there are few reasons to (re)join. Blue Note CD's can be found at J&R for about the same price. Hyperion CD's can be bought online directly from the UK for a few dollars less than Amazon's price. And in both cases, one can choose from the entire catalogue, not just a few selected items.

Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Between this and the BMG thread, I'm really weary of all the grumbling and belly-aching, particularly those who rarely, if ever, fail to add on to or respond to any posts that shed a negative light on YourMusic, BMG or whatever music choices that are or aren't available. Just get over it!! If you can find brand new, sealed copies of CDs offered by YourMusic at a better price elsewhere, then buy them! (It won't be at J&R) Instead of bemoaning what YourMusic isn't, take it for what it is. There's no cost, no obligation (at least for former BMG members) and if they do have or eventually get a title you like, $6.99 shipped to your door is still a pretty good deal. If you can find a better deal, then by all means, take advantage of it. Since YourMusic is free and no obligation, why not join, get a free CD and then treat this as one of multiple options for obtaining CDs? I'm sorry to see BMG and its significantly better deals to be had ending like the rest of you but I'm joining anyway because the new Blue Note jazz reissues can still be had cheaper via YourMusic than anywhere else online once you factor in shipping. Either join or don't join but it would sure be nice if everyone would just quit whining about it.

Sometimes it's not about getting the lowest price. |

Same here. Since this is a "Hot Deals" thread, I expect to see new hot offers. Not that I mind anyone complaining, just take it somewhere else. Most complaints are repeats of previous complaints and therefore add nothing new to the discussion.

Well, now I sit and wait for deals.
Didn't YM use to have free CD codes? |

Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
There are only two codes for YM that I remember. One was buy two get 1 free and the other was a % off. 30% maybe, I don't remember.
They had a "punch card" deal where you would get a free one after buying 10. The good thing about the B2G1 was that you got a "punch" for all 3. |
Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
WARNING: For those like me with an older email program that doesn't include cookie management, Your Music now sends a non stop onslaught of cookies with at least old BMG Club order confirm emails; in my 11+ years of internet use, I've NEVER seen a single email send this many cookies. I finally had to force Netscape to shut down to stop the cookies.
Very tacky at minimum. |
Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Seems like YourMusic's search function is not as good. I can't search by label. Or did I miss the place to do so? That's disappointing.
|
Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
I also noticed that all the CDs that were once in the BMG Music clearance section are now all priced at $6.99.
