Re: One & Only Yourmusic.com Thread I (BMG R.I.P.)
Unfortunately, YourMusic has their own definition of what a box set is and it has little to do with how many discs are in the package. The only sets on sale with the discount are the ones that are officially marked as such (with a little gray circle with a "B" in it right by underneath the price on any title's description page. If it doesn't have that classification, it's not a box set in YM's eyes. *shrug*

Speaking of which, I recently got a survey email from YM. I hope that everyone here who receives the survey will join me in pointing out to YM that the #1 problem is the difficulty in contacting & getting a reply from customer service. Maybe if enough of us mention it.......

I took the survey and let them know that their selection and customer service are what prevents me from buying more. I buy on average 5+ new cds per month and the only one from YM since BMG closed was for my kid. I did get a free one after making my first purchase, but that was it. I told them that I would not be a member if I had to keep a queue filled since they don't have enough that I am interested in.

Sad example of their poor selection is that their "new release" section for April includes 4 Christmas cd's............

They just got in Bird And The Bee's tribute to Hall And Oates album. Even though I only like about half the songs on that album, I'll probably pull the trigger on it, just to support Bird And The Bee, minimally.
Searching for new items is really tough. They still have some older stuff you probably didn't know they had, if you search around a bit. I recently found they had a couple of Tony Trischka albums (banjo).
All in all, slimmer and slimmer pickings. Sad to see it go like this.

I'm beginning to wonder if they're ever going to have new discount codes.
Slim pickings, but there are still a few multi-disc sets that I want.

Yourmusic is almost worthless to be a member, unless you are one of those former BMG users who do not need to purchase an album every month. Sales have been few and far between, and the selection keeps dwindling. A few albums do get rotated, but many of the choices now are just greatest hits or cheap compilations.

I'm not trying to defend yourmusic, because I think it is much worse than BMG in the old days, but BMG's buy 1 get 3 free was purchasing 1 title at list price ($18.99 or so), get 3 free, plus pay S/H on the entire shipment. I think I used to get the price per CD of approximately $4 to $5. Yourmusic's price per CD with buy 3 get 1 free is $5.24.

I have a few discs in my cart I want to pull the trigger on. It's amazing what a difference $1 makes to me.

Finally...a "sale". There are actually a few cds I might be interested in right now, which strangely enough weren't worth the extra dollar to me.

Thanks! I just joined a couple of weeks ago and was waiting for a code.
It seems they don't charge sales tax to Californians anymore.
