Coinstar - Cash in $40 for GC, Get Additional $10 GC (11/7 to 12/7/08)
Coinstar is back with this promotion - cash in $40 in coins for a GC, get an additional $10 GC for the same retailer (via mail).

I regularly cash in coins for Amazon GCs, so I'll scrounge up $40 for an extra $10!
Note: Not all Coinstar machines offer gift card/e-certificate, so check the store locator for one which does.

movieguru,
Whenever I've had gift certificates in my account at Amazon, it does not show up as applicable when I order from the U.K. site. Must have something to do with conversions.

Wow, that's a great deal if they don't have a service charge for gift cards.

BTW - Nothing prevents you from just buying $40 in coins and then changing it immediately at the machine, particularly if (like mine) your machine is in a grocery store. Just pop over to the service desk, slap down two twenties, then slide 4 rolls worth of quarters through the Coinstar machine to get a $40 GC and a code for a free $10 GC by mail.

I did similar to what a previous poster mentioned. I had turned in my excess coins about a month ago, so didn't have many. I was going to the bank Saturday anyway, so just bought $40 in quarters and ran them thru the coinstar at the local grocery store. My receipt does have the offer on it (as expected) and I'm mailing it this morning.

Does any Coinstar machine that gives out Amazon certificates have this offer, or are they just certain ones?
I checked on the website, and all of the Coinstar machines around me have the GCs, but it doesn't tag them with this specific offer.

I think if they give Amazon e-certificates, they should be doing this offer. My particular machine was advertising the promotion on its touch screen so they may all be programmed that way in their network.

Not every Coinstar machine is configured to spit out the same variety of GCs and/or e-certificates. The best thing to do is to go to coinstar.com and look up the machine you plan to use. The site will tell you how your specific machine is configured.
My machine (Kroger, <1 mile from the house) can issue Amazon e-certificates. I ran 4 $10 quarter rolls through the machine and requested an Amazon code. I got a receipt with a xxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxx code ($40 at amazon) and the receipt also had fineprint regarding where to mail it in to get an extra $10 GC via mail.

Used the coinstar machine for the first time today to take advantage of this deal. Thanks for the reminder, kenbuzz, to check on participating locations ahead of time. Discovered that the Kroger/Meijer near my home didn't do e-certificates, but the smaller food store a few miles away did.
Interesting that when my receipt printed out, it had the mail in voucher on the bottom but said nothing about what it was for! Just instructions to fill out and send in to Coinstar Holiday Bonus. I could see where most folks wouldn't even bother since many receipts nowadays have some kind of sweepstakes promotion/toll free number at the bottom.
Thanks to the OP for making me aware of this!

When I did it, the screens on the machine made a pretty big mention of it.

I just slid in two twenties, and was done in less than a minute.

I always wondered if that would work for these kind of deals because I've seen the prompt about "bills" (vs. "coins"). Thanks clappj for confirming that for us.
