I know this is outside the purview of free magazines but has anyone seen a decent deal on People Magazine? It is like the last magazine on Earth that can still charge obscene subscription rates as print media dies.

You can get People Magazine at Recyclebank.com as a reward doing free actuvities. I have subscribed to it there a few times. I set up a thread on how to get entertainment weeky there already.

If you do Coke Rewards, their price for a subscription isn't unreasonable. I've done it this way for my wife for a couple renewals rather than pay their inflated subscription prices.

FYI -- I had signed up for the $2/yr EW & SI subs last July and they auto-renewed at full-retail the other day for me. I completely forgot, so I called up the customer service # and they refunded me the entire amount and renewed me another year for $2 a piece. Can't beat that.

Scratch that. The EW subscription didn't take with their automated system, so they still charged me the full price. I had to call and actually speak to someone now who wouldn't honor the promotion, so I just outright canceled it. I hope another one comes through soon.

Thanks!
Also extended my subscriptions to EW and Time for another year at $2 each.

I had absolutely zero interest in Popular Science, but your post about the $2 subscriptions made me do it. Sure enough, I got the same offer. My EW is expiring in a few weeks. Never had Time before, but for 2 bucks, I'll try it! Thanks! Used a Virtual Card to prevent them from charging me in the future, but I'll still try to remember to cancel in a year...

100 pts. plus $2 per subscription:
- TIME (1 yr) (52 issues)
- Entertainment Weekly (1 yr) (52 issues)
- Health (1 yr) (10 issues)
- Scientific American (1 yr) (12 issues)
200 pts.:
- Popular Science (2 yrs) (24 issues)
360 pts.:
- Cooking Light (1 yr) 12 issues)
400 pts.:
- Modern Farmer (1 yr) (4 issues)
Would have done 2 years with Modern Farmer, but there was an article in the NY Times about them being in financial trouble. Taking a chance with this one, but it's supposed to be a really great mag.

Stolen from FW - free subscription to Wine Enthusiast:
http://cdn.mercurymagazines.com/121-1216133/index.html
As in the past, if you click through to completion, it then gives you the option to buy up to five more subscriptions for $2 each. I picked up a year of Sports Illustrated, Time, Entertainment Weekly and Wine Spectator, plus 6 months of Rolling Stone, all for a total of $10.
(Just remember that they auto-renew at much higher prices, so you need to cancel them. They do usually send an email reminder though.)

It's amazing how this thread has changed from the beginning. I used to get 15+ magazines a month from here. It's now down to just Maxim, which I still have for another 15 or so years. I'll probably end up canceling it, since the format change made it so I don't read a single thing any more.
