Allow me to jump in on this one too.
BMG, the great deals (most thanks to Doctor X), and everyone on this forum will be greatly missed. How things change...

They won't even accept credit cards with 30 days dating as they did in the past.

You would think they would still be accepting all forms of payment like they always did in the past.

Thanks bigjim25 for all of your timely updates...........

Although it does seem the recent "just added to the club" CDs have slowed down to a crawl.

80% Off CDs. No Other Purchase Necessary
A9F1 thru 4

Also the "free shipping" seems to now be working with the A9X16 & 17 codes. It doesn't seem to give free shipping for box sets though...

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

FYI, the 90% off codes have ceased working.
(Just as well, perhaps. Yesterday I ordered a dozen jazz albums and went back for more today. I should cut down.)

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

While imo the recent rock additions are junk, they did add some quality Verve jazz remasters today: Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Stan Getz, Oscar Peterson, Bub Powell & a few more similar.

No I don't think I sound like a spurned/burned lover but I think I sound more like a dissatisfied former customer!!!!!
All things must come to an end unfortunately. The Credit Card only payment allows them to cut down on their staff that has to handle checks and money order......so some BMG employees are out of work now I'm sure. Anyway thanks to Doctor X and everyone for the big CD savings and posts since I've been coming here. Maybe we'll get a surpirse Free Code or two in the home stretch!

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

I got an e-mail, too. These are the same codes discovered by Doctor X on April 21. So now we know when they expire.

To get the 70% Off CDs, Plus Free Shipping offer, enter the promotion code "A9X17" in the box on the left side of our website's homepage and click "apply." But hurry! Promo code is only good until 4/28/09!

Not to mention the simple timing trying to get checks cleared before the BMG part of their company closes down. Say you order today, it takes them time to pack it, time in transit, a few days for you to get around to mailing a check back, time for that to travel, then the actual time for it to clear. In a way, we're lucky the credit card option stays around longer, they could have simply stopped all orders at the same time.

If some of you don't like using a credit card with them, then don't. I personally don't see it being worse than any other place, and we know the company will still exist (with the YourMusic storefront and their other ventures) so it's not like they'll take your money and disappear. To each their own. But could those of you anti-credit please stop bashing the whole thread with anti-credit rants.

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

I'm not anti credit card. That's how I've always paid them. I am anti pay in advance to a company with a less then stellar track record of filling pay in advance orders correctly.

You're incorrect. The personal checks that members mail to BMG for payment are processed as a one-time electronic fund transfer (debit).

And that's not a rant that's a fact......................

so are you saying it's as instant as a credit card?
because I'm not sure why you're nitpicking terminology when my point was all about them having to cut off orders long enough before closing the whole site to leave some time for checks that are in the mail. If during that time they can keep the more instant credit card orders going, then that's a bonus for credit cards, it's not a slight against checks.

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

To back up my earlier concern/point:

My last TOOS bill me later cd's arrived today; supposedly shipped 4/24 (arrived 4 days later). Still no sign of the paid in advance items Supposedly shipped on 4/11.

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

I'm a bonehead and have totally forgot the answer to this question, so I thought I'd ask it here. What is the last day for a person to order something from BMG's website? Is it the end of April or the end of May?

Thanks!

...Joe...

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

April 30th is the final day to use any remaining music points, so if you're still holding those hurry up.

May 31st is the final day to place regular orders.

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

When does the 70% Off w/ Free Shipping actually end? (I know BMG claims it's today.)

Does anyone want to speculate if the above promo is the best we'll see in the next month? (I waited a day too long to use the 90% Off waiting for my credit card to cycle.)

Any idea when Portishead Third will be added?

Re: One & Only BMG Music Service Thread (Part 5)

It's now 12:36am PST on May 29th, a few minutes ago I ordered a couple things using the 70% w/ free shipping. So it's still good.
