If that 5 for 1 is the same offer I got an email about yesterday, then it's totally not worth it.

It's buy one get 5 free but you also have to agree to buy another one within the next year. It's a horrible deal when you consider that you could just cancel, reapply and get way more free cds for that one full priced one you have to buy.

The buy-1-get-5-free offer is one of the best deals for single discs. The unit price is 63 cheaper than with the buy-1-get-4-free offer. Keep in mind that, until a couple of years ago, the best single-disc offer was buy-1-get-3-free.

Very interesting.
When I type the code in the main page, it simply puts "Get 5 Free CDs when you buy 1!" in the header bar as you would expect, no added details.
When I click on the link in the email, it takes me to that page that explains you're committing to buying 1 more with a checkbox for "accept this membership offer".
Not sure what BMG is trying to do here.

clearly, if you have to buy 1 more the deal is more like Buy 2 Get 5, which isn't very good at all. Unless the 1 more you have to buy can be fulfilled with a B1G4 just like membership agreements can, in which case this is marginally better than just using B1G4 twice.

That is strange about the U8X1 code. I wonder if you type it in will they automatically sign you up for having to buy one more? I was able to fill my cart and go all the way to confirm and it didn't mention the additional purchase.

Anyway, here are a couple of new C codes...

50% Off CDs, When You Buy 1
U8C34, 41

Buy 1 Get 4 Free
U8C35, 38, 42, 43

99 CDs, When You Buy 1!
U8C36, 39

$3.99 CDs, No Other Purchase Necessary
U8C37

Wow, that 99 cent deal works out real well if you're buying more than a couple of CDs. Do they typically have deals that are that good? I was looking at buying around 18 CDs with the B1G5 deal, which would have been around $5.95 per CD, but the same order works out to over a dollar less per CD with this code. Even with a smaller order (~10 CDs) it's still cheaper.

How about just opening a new account? Much cheaper. Don't forget the *8E# codes on page one.

For one, the hassle. I know at least with Columbia House in the past I had applications rejected with no notice or reason given. Second, this gives me access to a lot of CDs that are members only. Third, it's still pretty damn cheap - $4.60 per CD is a steal in my opinion.

That's about a $1.50 too much per cd for me. With the codes available now you can get 35+ cds per account for a little over $3.00 on average. I see no reason to not join/cancel/join.

That code doesn't work with members-only titles.

For that matter, I don't think any codes or promotions do.

Think he means codes that are "Members Only" when you first signup.

Sure it does! Keep in mind that "members only" titles include anything with 2 or more CDs as well as "premium titles". It's those "premium titles" that codes do not typically work with.

Have any of you encountered a lost application similar to what often happens with the Columbia House DVD club? I applied to BMG last week, and never heard anything from them at all. No email, no temp charges on my credit card, nothing. Just wondering if that's unusual, as I haven't heard any discussion of it here. FWIW, it's a second account, and I used the freecds link to apply.

That sometimes happens with second accounts. Try again and use a pet's name to open the account.

I never receive "welcome" emails when opening accounts, so the best way to verify approval is to log in.

I am new to this and could use some helpful advice. I buy a lot of CDs and after reading this I'd feel like a fool for not capitalizing on this what seems too good to be true deal.

The first link about getting 7 for free, pay full price for 1 cd then get 7 others. Is it really that easy? I pay just the $18 or whatever for that 1 cd then $30 or so dollars total for the shipping and handling (15 cds - $30.65)????

I don't have to buy anything else after that? The site says I just have to write and cancel the service, it's that easy?????

Other questions, the codes posted in this thread, I assume these are all after you already did the 15 CD deal? So now you're just buying extra with the codes not because you're mandated too? Can you buy as many CDs with these seemingly amazing coupons whenever you want?

Thanks in advance guys!

Yes, it is that easy! The codes do work on unfulfilled accounts. The best way to fulfill an account is to use one of the Buy 1, Get 4(now there are actually Get 5 codes) codes. So, you'll end up getting 19 free titles(just the price of shipping) for the one at full price. It should work out to about $75 for 20 titles.

Amazing, I'm definitely signing up them. Could you explain what "members only" next to some CDs means? I assume I can't pick those for my first initial 7 free CDs but only after I've bought one at full price?

Bingo (unless they are a premium title or box set). They can also be the 1 you buy or the 4 you can get for free with the code.

I think the 14 free might have ended? I went to sign up just now and the complete order page basically froze. Now when I click the link in the first post to sign up it asks me for my password but nothing happens. Hopefully I made it and I'll receive some email regarding it.

EDIT. I see it says wait 48 hours to process my membership. Will I get a notification regarding the 7 free CDs I chose when starting my membership emailed to me?

I never do. Keep checking your account. When you no longer see the 48 hours message, you've been accepted. You can then check your order history to see if and when your CDs have shipped.

Ok so my order did go through. I see online it says I still have 1 CD to buy. I assume after I buy that 1 CD then it will inform me that I now have 7 more free to order?

Be sure to use the B1G4 code when you do.
