I tried stacking S8E5's 8-for-1 deal with a default 2/3 off and free shipping with 4. I have a cart with 8 discs, one at 6.33 and 7 free, but no free shipping. Still makes it 8 discs for 3.58 each. Ain't bad. Do I hit "go" on this, or does someone have a better way to work that deal?

Have you used the other S8E_ free codes this month? Not counting the 8 for 1 part, you still get 11 total for the price of shipping.

OK, this is the deal *I* have gotten with the S8E5 code.
FYI, my default/current deal is 'unlimited 2/3 off' & free shipping if you buy 4 or more.
When i put in the S8E5, i get '3 free cd's or 8 for 1'
if i put in more than three, and up to 8 cd's, as long as they are not considered 'boxed sets', the first one is 2/3 off, but i get charged shipping on all.
HOWEVER, if you add what they consider a box set (with the B logo), and is NOT a 'sales exempt' one (with the SE logo), then you get the boxed set at their regular 'everyday savings' price, plus free shipping on your entire order, including your 8 cd's!
For example, i put the James Brown 'startime' 4cd boxed set, plus 8 cd's, and my total is in the mid $30's (james brown at $28, plus 2/3 off my most expensive cd).

$3.16 each

My default deal now is buy-one-get-four-free. I was able to stack S8E4 on my default deal and get 6 discs for $18.98. The free shipping glitch inexplicably applied across all six discs.

Wow, I wonder if that would work on the Buy 1 get unlimited .99 offers they have. I just put in a huge order and free shipping would have saved me so much. You guys should test that out.

aha! It's not actually the box. It's paying for 4 CDs to trigger free shipping. You just have all 4 on the same line item in the cart.
I currently have a cart with 4 CDs at 2/3 off, and 7 more free. Total $25.30 for 11 discs, no shipping, 2.30 each. Cheaper than the free discs and paying for shipping.
The per-disc cost drops even farther if you have 2- or 3-disc sets you want to use for your not-free part of the deal.

Actually, you don't have to have the 4 on the same line. I have 8 single cds and the total is $28.65. When I add the David Bowie 3 cd box, the price goes to 22.72. That is 16.39 for the box and 6.33 for the 2/3 off cd.

And check this out, I have 7 single cds in the cart and then put 2 double sets in and it only charges me for the doubles. The total for all of this is $13.32

Wow, the site is really slow now. I finally came up with a couple of double cds I wanted and it took forever for the order to go through. I guess every one is jumping on this one.

I just hope there is no fine print to this offer that will come in the email...

The site is having fits. I got a 4CD box set and 8 double CDs for $30.78 total. I'm doubtful if it will go through. It's funny how your list of wants expands when the price goes down to below $2/CD. ;-)

I would like to use the offer but I just can't find enough CDs to make it worth.

So, what is the deal with BMG? Their selection is crap and they are giving away CDs. Are they just trying to get rid of inventory to close the site?

Hmm....maybe?I certainly agree that the selection is crap.90% of the new titles added in the rock/pop category are things I have never heard of and/or have no interest in hearing.
I did notice that they will be adding Dragonforce-Ultra Beatdown soon. That just might be the last CD I order from them.

I'll be really curious to see if they ship your entire order. A few months back, there was a box set error with one of the codes where box sets were going for well under $10 each with shipping. Most of us on another board got less then 1/2 of what we ordered before BMG caught the error & canceled the remainder. Mind you, if you just get 1/2 of these you're in really good shape!

I got it down to $2.06 for 16 discs (I was charged for one 3 cd box & one 2 cd set). Everything I added over 16 seemed to raise the price; so I stopped there. I'm really tired, it may be that it had to be in sets of 8 discs to keep the price down.

Hopefully they'll ship....

Thought that one line deserved a little bit of highlighting.

My order tonight was merely for a 2-disc set and 9 single discs with S8E5, averaging $1.90 per disc.

I will agree with others that this is starting to get down to the bottom of my wishlist. I made a list of all the good jazz albums left on the site when the last month's free codes came out, the list may not survive another month like this one.
(Incidentally, if anyone wants jazz recommendations, message me for the list. I won't throw the thread off topic with it unless someone says its OK.)

IMHO, I doubt this is some sort of cleverly-disguised clearance sale, considering how we go about finding these codes. If it was a real sale they'd advertise it better. The original codes were supposed to be rewards for changing from paper catalogs to strictly email membership, maybe these are just bigger incentives for people still holding out and we're simply capitalizing on them. I would wager that us "power buyers" in this forum are a very very small minority of the BMG customer base.

Searching album title for "deluxe" yields a bunch of multi-disc deluxe editions for use with the S8E5 code. I got Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (2 CD/1 DVD), Tears for Fears' The Big Chair (2 CD), plus seven single disc CD's for $20 (2/3's off each deluxe, plus free shipping on everything).

That is nuts. I'm glad at least someone was able to take advantage of that (fingers crossed anyway). If I would have held out on my order for a few days more I would have saved a lot of money that way. I at least used the unlimited .99 deal that came with triple music points so I got a few more free cds out of it, but my average was closer to $3.80.

Another good 2-CD set: Absolute Garbage (Limited Edition), Selection #: 2222677. Disc 2 is a collecion of remixes by various electronica acts.

Maybe we need a whole thread on BMG suggestions? There's still a lot of good stuff on the site, it's just hard to find.

Well,I don't know about that.I think the days of finding titles i want from them are almost :
Still, using the code already mentioned,I went ahead and ordered some Opeth,Dragonforce,Megadeth,Lost Horizon and King Diamond to trade for credit with Sentinel Steel.

I got in on that box set code too and managed to get every box set (about 18 total) except the Bon Jovi box set. It took a few e-mails to get the whole order processed right last time but in the end it worked out just fine. We'll see how this time turns out.

Well then, once BMG closes up shop, I'm blaming you!
