Here is a new one that I thought was pretty good until I tried it. Note that is is 5 selections, not 5 total discs...

50% Off, Plus Free Shipping - Take An Additional $15 Off Your Order of 5 or More Selections

15 * 2.79 = 41.85 (total shipping)
1 * 19 = 19.00 (full price selection)
total = 60.85
divide by 15 = 4.06/cd

now if you fulfill with a buy1 get 4 free code
19 * 2.79 = 53.01 (shipping)
1*19 = 19.00 (full price)
72.01/19 = 3.79/cd

Not good for boxsets then, huh? Unless you're insane and buy five different box sets.

If you're going to repeat, send a referral to a 2nd email address. That only gives 12/1 on the new account - it can't combine with 15/1 - but the first account gets 5 free discs and some music points. Also, you won't need as many selections at once, you can finish the new account quicker and take your time with the extra 5 on the first account.

and that is why it's worth consulting wizards.....

Holy crap! Buy one, get 7 free! Excuse me while I go fulfill an account...

Buy 1, Get 4 FREE Plus, take an Additional FREE CD
J8E1, 3

Buy 1, Get 4 FREE Plus, take three Additional FREE CDs
J8E2, 4

edit:
It looks like you get the 3 free even if you don't order any regular price cds and it seems to work at least on double cd sets...

edit again:
I just placed an order for one double and one single for a total of $7.57. After placing the order, I entered the code again and the same deal came up. Not sure how many times they would let you keep ordering 3 free cds...

I don't get the 3 free to show up when using J8E2 - am I doing something wrong? I get the 4 free but any after that show up as regular price.

EDIT: now it seems to be working. Go figure.
EDIT: looks like you can only apply the take 3 additional one time - I had a bunch of CDs in my cart.

You don't even have to order the B1G4 part. The first three in the order are "free" (+ shipping of course). I placed an order for a double and single cd (3 cds total) and the total was 7.57. As soon as the order went through, I entered the same code again and the additional 3 free deal came up.

This is a good way to get 2cd sets since the shipping on a 2cd is less than two singles.

I like this code. I wonder what will happen, will they actually ship all these CDs? I went ahead and placed one order for The Stooges Self Titled Deluxe Edition and The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives. $7.57 for the pair.

I noticed when I checked out that at the end it offered me a deal for 1 free CD if you apply for the Columbia House DVD club. Has anyone ever done that? Does it work? Do you really just have to apply, or do they only take it if you open an account.

Edit: ok i have used it 11 times now. It is still working. It will be very cool if i get these cd's.

An unprecedented deal

It seems plausible, though surprising, that BMG intended this to be a Buy 1 Get 7 Free deal. It does not seem plausible that the first three discs would be free. I think that part of the deal is a mistake, and will likely be rescinded. How they do that will demonstrate their customer satisfaction commitment. I am considering whether to try the 3-Free or the Buy 1 Get 7 Free, and I'm leaning toward the latter. Any thoughts?

I had similar thoughts when I placed an order. My first thought was to use the "buy 1 get 7" deal to fulfill an account. When I saw that the first 3 were free (and it worked on 2 cd sets), I just placed that order. I figure it is worth a try, the worst they can do is cancel the order. I am just trying to exercise some restraint and not order a bunch more while they are this cheap...

You might as well try it before they change their mind.

Thanks for the sweet code, Doctor X! I gave it a shot on the 2 disc Elvis Costello "My Aim is True" and the new Nightwish album.

BMG will almost definitely rescind the 3 FREE (or charge your account for them). OTOH 8-for-1 is a great deal on its own, since that works out to about $5 per disc.

I just checked my account and it shows the order that I placed yesterday as being shipped. The order detail still shows the cds as free with only shipping being charged.

I entered the code and it still comes up like it did yesterday. I could see them pulling the deal, but I would be surprised if they try to go back and charge for ones already ordered.

I just checked my account and 6 orders i placed yesterday all show up as paid and processing.
The other 5 orders i placed show as pending credit card authorization and not shipped.
It certainly looks like i might get all 11 orders. Hooray!

I've made a few more orders today. So far, so good.

Also, I discovered that some 3 CD sets will also come up free, leaving you paying only $6.77 shipping. The only thing I've found so far is Turn Back The Years: The Essential Hank Williams Collection. It's a 3 disc set, but not listed as box set on the site. Are there any others like this?

J8E4 is giving me "buy 1, get unlimited $1.99, plus 3 free"

upon further review... removing the code leaves the "buy 1 unlimited 1.99." So maybe it's adding 3 free to whatever your basic code-less deal currently is.
If anyone's stuck with 1+1.99 instead if B1G4 as the default, check your selection of the month. I've at least got a Buy This Get 2 offer there. (Course, the selection is something I actually got from BMG about 3 weeks ago. so go figure.)

Just placed two orders for 3 CDs each. We'll see what happens. Has anyone's order actually shipped yet?

EDIT: Nevermind. Saw the posts that said orders have shipped.
