Where to get a new bed...cheap...?
 

Well, with the ex-girlfriend taking her bed, I'm forced to look at buying a new one. Color me shocked when I found out how much beds were...looking at over $300 for a frame, and $600 for a mattress? Yikes.

Any tips on where to get a new bed cheaper than that? I'm moving soon, and I don't have that kind of cash lying around...looks like I might be sleeping on the floor from now on...

you can get a plain metal frame for under $50 at pretty much any dept. store, no headboard or anything, just the bottom actual frame part. For the mattress check out a furniture store like Sadler's, Bailey's, Rooms to Go, things like that. They normally have a cheap set. We got both of our kids queen beds when we moved, and we got a deal with a frame, mattress, box spring, and sheet set for $299 at Bailey's.

There is always the blow up mattress route, too. Better than sleeping on the floor!

Just get an air mattress from Wallyworld or Target.

$25-50, make sure nothing sharp is under it, and get a repair kit for $5.

Craigslist for the frame. If it needs repairing, some sandpaper and stain is all you need.
DenverMattress for the mattress. I think my queen cost $400, with the box springs and metal frame. Best mattress I've ever slept on.

Does Denver Mattress deliver? Their ad make it sound like the reason why theirs is cheaper is because they don't deliver. You have to pick it up yourself?

Check the craig's list for your area. Especially now that it's close to the end of the month. People who are renting and moving out are always posting furniture for sale or even for free.

I got a brand new queen bed years back for barely over $300. It wasn't a name brand, but served it's purpose. You can get decent deals on Sealy at Sam's Club, depending what size you're looking for.

I prefer my Sleep Number bed, but don't think that's going to meet your budget needs. ;)

Maybe I'm in the minority, but there's no way I would buy a used bed...

Yep, I'd never buy a used mattress either. but a frame/headboard would be okay used.

Like others have said, metal frame less than $50 and check Sam's as indicated on the box spring and mattress... you can get the bed boxes (not a real box spring, but basically the same thing without springs instead of a real box spring even cheaper)

Obviously the smaller the mattress, the cheaper the price.

I just spent $699.99 for a queen size Sealy pillowtop from Raymour & Flanagan and love it! Also had free delivery! I didn't get a frame cause I already had one that went from a full to queen.

The best advice I can offer is to spend a LOT of money on your bed.
People underestimate the importance of this, but think of how much
time you spend there. It makes a huge difference in your quality of life.
