good reputable online electronic stores?

sister is buying an >30 gb ipod for her hubby for his bday, and is looking for some deals. i found some online coupons for cc, buy.com, bestbuy. are there any good discount electronics websites? any electronic stores that offer a good price but she should steer away from? unfortunately, my internet knowledge drops off after searching for coupons :)

You're probably better off asking this question here.

I dont think apple allows discounts on their stuff. macmall.com will sometimes throw in free stuff like fm adapters or additional power cords. Look at apples refubs on their site. When they have them in stock they have refurb 30gb ipods for $179 and 60gb for $229. Both come with the same warrenty as new, plus you can buy the applecare plan for like another $60.

I've used both Crutchfield and JandR.com a bunch of times. Never been less than completely satisfied. J&R also sells through Amazon. In fact, J&R's shipping is really fast to me, probably since I live only one state over.

I'll also say that Crutchfield is a good site for electronics...

crutchfield is a good site for items that don't go on sale like Ipods. For electronics that can be discounted...it depends on what you are looking for? I like valueelectonics.com Excellent indep. retailer that sells authorized products.

If he doesn't mind opening something that comes in a plain brown box, there's a strong case to be made for the refurbished models in the "Special Deals" section at store.apple.com. They come with a full warranty, and every refurbished product I've ordered through them has arrived in pristine condition.

Overstock.com also carries refurbished models, and they always have coupons available (typically 10% off an entire order), but the 30 GB and 60 GB models are currently sold out.

dealmac.com keeps track of daily iPod (and other) deals. I don't recall ever having a bad experience with any of the vendors they feature, and I've been using them as a resource since 1998.

If you are a student, you can also get that discount via the Apple website.

The discounts don't work on iPods anymore.

When buying electronics you normally can't go wrong with newegg.com. Not sure if they offer coupons but they always have a good price on expedited shipping & are one of the most respected electronics stores on the 'net.

Really? It's been years since I'd done it, so you can see why I didn't know that. ;)

237.98 at Amazon, not the hugest deal, but no tax and free shipping.

Newegg.com

Just about even with Amazon in terms of price. I've ordered from them before and had Wednesday delivery for an order placed on Sunday.

PC Connection has had rebates on ipods in the past.

Also Costco have both iPod's and Nano's for a little bit of a discount.
