320gig premium MyBook $139.99 @CC w/IR,MIR)

Circuit City currently has the 320gig (!) MyBook premium version (that allows USB or firewire connection) for $209.00 - $20 IR - $50 MIR = $139.99!

Nothing but good things to say about this product. Looks friggin' cool, easy to install and use...

I checked their site and it just says $159.00 after $90.00 savings.
No mention of a rebate.
Can you give us more info?
Thanks!

there is the link... its the price I quoted, but if you notice its not the "premium" version. However, in the stores, the premium version (which I think is only the addition of the firewire port) is indeed labelled and listed as a final price of $139.99 after the IR/MIR... YMMV I guess, but worth the shot.

I just placed the order online with in-store pickup.. do you think they will swap it for the premium if they have it?

to be honest, I just don't know... I saw the link online, went to my local CC expecting to just buy the "essential" version, and was surprised to find the "premium" version in its stead for the same price... it rang up as the lower price without me having to haggle...

Once you get it, if you are using Windows XP then I would recommend reformatting the drive from the shipped FAT32 format to the NTFS format. Simple instructions on how to do it can be found in the manual and online:

** This WD drive is preformatted as a single FAT32 partition for campatibility with all Windows operating systems. The FAT32 file system has a maximum individual file size of 4GB and cannot create partitions larger than 32GB in Windows 2000/XP. Windows 2000 and XP users can overcome these file size limitations by reformatting the drive to NTFS using the Disk Management utility. Windows 98SE and Me do not support NTFS. See answer ID 1287 at www.support.wdc.com and article IDs 314463 and 184006 at support.microsoft.com for further details.

It takes about an hour to reformat the drive, and it's easy to do.

I picked mine up and they did give me the premium, but the paper I printed shows a cost of $199 .. so, with the $50 mail-in, where is the other $20? I see a 10% off imaging items that printed with the pick-up form, but they didn't scan it or anything. Do I need to take it back to them?

Achau, click on this link... the store should honor the website price, mine did. The cost is $209 minus an instant $20 rebate - 50$ mail-in rebate = 139 PLUS SALES TAX. The 199 is probably tax? If MD is like MA, it's around $9.50.

tax is 5% here .. so about the same .. so the $20 looks like it did come off .. now to mail in the rebate form ... awesome deal! now if I could just get my usb 2.0 card to work again
