Nice! I remember this from a couple years ago as well. Thanks!

When Block did this two years ago, it was later determined that the link should have only been enabled if you had a browser cookie that indicated that you had purchased MS Money. IIRC, they caught that mistake and republished the Deduction Pro page so you couldn't get the software without the cookie.
If they follow to form, then the link (above) should go bad sometime soon. I'd recommend downloading the s/w asap if you're interested in it. Otherwise, you can only get it if you buy it standalone ($19.95) or bundled with another product (MS Money or Tax Cut Premium.) Of course, it's entirely possible that Block is giving the s/w away this year, just like they're giving out the Basic version of Tax Cut - as an enticement to buy their other products. Dunno. |
Thanks....I usually use TurboTax maybe I'll try this too.

I dumped Turbo Tax several years ago when Intuit decided to include malware with their product. They bundled Macrovision's C-Dilla software to prevent users from copying the CD (which is their right), but the malware added yet another running process to your machine, it monitored ALL of your CD writing even after Turbo Tax had been installed, and was extremely difficult to remove. Intuit did this without informing purchasers that C-Dilla would be installed on their system.
I switched to TaxCut that year and have never looked back. |
