it would be nice to see DVD re-writables going down in price

Here in Autsralia we are still paying $14 each for one quality re-writable DVD.

I guess they still make CD700mg by the million per day. If they concentrated
on making just as many DVD4.7meg re-writables then they would definetly
go down in price. Please wake up Sony, Toshiba, Laser etc.

So, none of the companies that sell DVD-RW's for about a buck a piece on-line ship to Australia? That sucks.

There's a good business opportunity. Considering the exchange rate, an easy 10-11x profit shipping something lightweight to an English-speaking country.

But how much are once write DVDs?

That's what kills the re-writables. In the US, there is no point to having a RW. The writables are getting to be cheap enough that you throw away the old copy. Same thing that happened with CDs.

I use RWs over and over for temporary recordings where I would be hesitant to burn the material to a write-once. It would really change the way I use my DVR or maybe I wouldn't even use it if I couldn't use RWs.

Top quality media can be bought for .30-.40 a disc, sometimes cheaper. How often you you reuse your RWs, that you can't burn 3 R's for a buck?!? I am constantly clearing my DVR onto DVD-R. I'd go crazy if I had to watch that stuff as I burnt it just to free up a bunch of RWs. I only use the RWs when I transferring a bunch of kids programs onto my PC for cleaning up and burning a compilation DVD-R.
