I was thinking along the same lines. Of those 1.25 mil subscribers who knows how many are actually paying.

just an FYI for anyone who's interested, i emailed them asking what happens to my subscription now:

Thank you for contacting FHM Magazine. FHM magazine will be ceasing publication. The final issue will be the March 2007 issue. The publisher is in the process of selling the names to a magazine of similar content that will fulfull the remaining issues of the subscription. Because the sale has not been finalized we are unable to release the name of the publication.

You will be notified of additional information when it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Sarah

magazines dont make much off of subscriptions, they make the most off of advertising, and ad rates are based off of monthy circulation. If you have a readership of 1.25 mil, and 1 mil get the mag for free, you will make a lot more money than you would with 250,000 paying customers. Why do you think you can find most any magazine subscription free (or heavily discounted)?

Nothing Most likely.

Thankfully I have long subscriptions to both Stuff and Maxim. So I guess I am safe there.

I hope they sell it to someone other than Dennis, since I'm already well stocked in those. Playboy would be nice...

My free subscription to Official Playstation Magazine got switched to EGM since that one closed up shop as well. Hopefully FHM does the same type of thing, if they don't ohh well I'm already getting Stuff & Maxim subscriptions for free along with about 10 other magazines. Playboy...

That's good. They should shut down all these junk magazines and print best science/math books using that paper and distribute them to underprivileged students.

With our luck we'll probably get the remaining subs fulfilled with either Maxim, Stuff or Blender...all of which now have a five-year subscription term limitation.

Her show on Spike TV
Turning down the constant offers she gets to be on "Dancing with the Stars"
Her obligations from her modeling contract
Her G4 show
The constant commercial work she gets
Her work with the North Shore Animal League
Satisfying Howard on a nightly basis...

BTW, the Horse Illustrated magazine cover bit ...already been beaten like a dead horse.

Hey, some of us appreciate those free "junk" magazines.

My subscription was supposed to run until Jul '09. I have not received one letter telling me what is going to be happening to the rest of subscription, i.e. transferring my remaining issues to another magazine. The final issue didn't mention a thing. Has anybody heard about getting other mags for the rest of their subscription period?

I am pretty sure I am now getting Us magazine as a replacement for FHM. It started coming the month after FHM quit and I never signed up for it.

It would be nice to get another magazine even if it is US. If I don't I don't. Worst case I am out about around $15. The last two magazines I subscribed to that ceased publication were Stereophile Home Theater and Premiere and the last issue of each coincided with the last issue of my subscription for both. I am way ahead of the game, no tears. It would have been cool to get the British FHM as a replacement but the postal fees would have been to rich for them.

I'm not getting any new mags. I had like 8 years on my FHM subscription.

I'm not getting anything new that would be attributed to FHM shutting down. Looks like they took the money and ran, despite it not being my money.

Nothing new here and had like 5 more years to go. I'm happy to see it go, I wouldn't mind a new magazine though
