if they dont normally scan them, how do they give you credit for them? just wondering.

It's easy. Just scan one, and manually override in the computer the amount needed to be discounted. All that takes is just a cashier manually counting the BBB to confirm the exact discount.

How terribly disappointing. Today I got back 23 and only got 1 $5 BBB.

So, I'm short two out of fifty returns, and I've only had 3 $5 ones. That's terrible, considering the avg. of about 10-1. I'd consider not doing this again next year, unless the loophole of using them 2x stays open.

Actually the odds of a $5 are 12.4 to 1, not 10 to 1. So if 1 of your last 2 is a $5, you'll be dead on.

I only got 12 back today, all $1, but I'm still a bit ahead of the odds altogether. Just waiting on a few hundred more, all printed on my laser printer. hmmm, maybe that's why i'm waiting... hope not as some on FW and SD have gotten printed ones back. we'll see....

Has anyone tried to order a 200 dollar item online for inn store pick up then use the 200 dollars ins tore as well, then returning booth items for a 400 dollars gift card?

Yeah, I was wondering a similar thing. I really want a Wii, but video game hardware is excluded. Can I just buy some items totalling $200 then return them for a gift card which can then be used unrestricted in the store? Spending $50 to get a Wii would definitely be sweet.

corysontag - you're plan wouldn't work too well unless you had 40 $5 codes. 40 codes is the limit for online orders.

I would be very surprised if the return method worked as they put in the BBB as a discount so it wouldn't be counted as something to be refunded if you return the item.

Although the BBB says you are limited to $3 on DVD/DVD boxset/CD, you can use more than $3 BBB ONLINE; if you try to use more than $3 in-store for DVD/CD then the cashier's screen will pop up a "requires manager's authorization" screen message and the cashier is required to get a manager who are more than likely to tell you you can only use $3 in BBB on DVD/CDs.

It will NOT work. You'll only be refunded what you actually paid. It's in the rules. And last year, I had a problem with an item that was no longer carried. I tried to return it, but would have only gotten a dollar or two back. So I just kept the broken item.

You can try it, but it won't work.

Yeah. That's the sucky/but good thing about these. They take off the price pre-tax. So you pay less for tax, but you also can't get a refund (which makes sense).

People have reported being able to use BBB online for video game hardware (I think a PSP was mentioned in this thread).

How about this... I get a bunch of merchandise (thinking Wii games) and then return them after Christmas without a receipt. Wouldn't that work at ~$50 a game assuming they'd all still be in stock?

Good question. I wonder if a gift receipt would carry that data over. At the very least you could use it to get store credit, which is much more flexible than a BBB.

Anyway, today I got back the rest from my last batch. It was a really really good batch. NO food coupons but I did get an extremely good ratio of $5 BBB. Almost 3-1. My first batch was about 10-1.

My BB doesn't like me...

I tried to use some of my best buy bucks tonight in-store, and got rejected!!! I had a WoW timecard (19.99) and some raisinets (1.49) and about 30 $1 BBB in hand, excited about getting such a good deal because this is the first time I've done this, but of course she ruined my fun and told me I could only get $3 off the time card. Now I ain't tryin' to hear that, so she got the manager, who confirmed that there was a $3 limit on media. Placated with the raisinets but confused as to how I avoided that great transaction, I went home to finepick the fineprint with a finetoothed comb and, lo and behold, it explicitly says the limit doesn't apply to video games or computer software.

What gives? I haven't heard anyone else getting rejected, and it can't be regional. Has anyone else had any problems with oblivious employees? I don't wanna be that guy who brings a printout and has to speak to the manager and explain myself twice, while everyone behind me on a Saturday afternoon has to watch the cashier scan the BBB, one by one of course, and grumble about how they could be listening to their new Kanye CD by now. These bucks have suddenly become very troublesome...I wonder if it's possible to check out in the customer service line...

You have to be willing to deal with hassles if you want to make out with the BBB. I always bring a printout of the rules with me. Saved my bacon a few times...

That's true...I can't imagine redeeming 200 of these at one time though. Some of you guys are fearless...

I've done the max last year, and will again this year. Last time they counted them, and then had me fill out the yellow form they use for returns. Other than that - no problems.

Nope. As far as I remember, that's not on the list of excluded products.
