To get free HDTV, you will need…

HDTV with integrated HDTV/ATSC tuner.
Or if you have HDTV READY tv, buy separate hdtv tuner (e.g. Samsung SIR-T451)

Antenna
Zenith/Philips– ZHDTV1 – doesn’t work at ground floor.
RCA ANT1250 – presently only works for one VHF channel
Radioshack ATV 1000 - doesn’t work at ground floor.

To get right antenna, check http://www.antennasdirect.com/
Try to buy medium range (covers upto 50 miles) indoor hdtv antenna.

Cables – 30 to 50 ft cable to connect Antenna to TV for getting right digital tv signals

broadcast station hdtv has always been free.

=> I am not sure it is a hot deal, but you can get rid of cable/dish bill in case you are happy with these free hdtv channels.

This seems more like a thread promoting antennaweb.org, but it's not like they'll get any benefit to it.
