Free Copy of WinRar

WinRAR is giving away a free copy of their award-winning archiver utility application again. This version 3.51 can not be upgraded to future releases. It supports all major archiving formats, including Zip, RAR and 7-Zip. I'd recommend using a spam/junk e-mail account to sign up for it as you specifically agree to get e-mail messages from them.

You can also download it directly here:

Just unrar it and put it in the same folder as your winrar programs (you will have to overwrite the existing file)

Isn't the 'free' version theoretically limited to 40 days of use?

no annoying screen saying you haven't registered or something like that. not a big deal, but since this is free, if you use winrar, i don't see a reason not to get it, other than the spam e-mails that you'll be getting.

Just use 7-zip. It's free. It's fast. It does just about everything.

Ditto. 7-zip handles RARs and every other compression format I need, plus I don't have to worry about spalsh screens or registering.
