McDONALD’S® CONTINUES TO DOMINATE CHICKEN CATEGORY
WITH NEW “SPICY” ADDITION TO THE MENU

Company Sells More Chicken Sandwiches Than Top Three Competitors
Combined

OAK BROOK, IL (January 31, 2006)—McDonald’s today added a new Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich to its highly successful line of Premium Chicken Sandwiches. The new Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich, available in more than 13,700 U.S. McDonald’ restaurants, combines smoked Jalapeno, Cayenne pepper and other spices to deliver a distinctly bold new taste. The crispy chicken breast is served on a warm honey wheat roll with crisp lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. “Customers continue to tell us that they want great-tasting menu choices with new flavor and more variety,” said Ralph Alvarez, President, McDonald’s North America. “As a result, quality chicken products represent an important part of our menu. To satisfy customers’ taste preferences we are adding a new Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich to our line of successful Premium Chicken Sandwiches.”

To add a bit of “kick” to the nationwide launch, customers can sample the new sandwich at participating restaurants, February 9-12 during lunchtime from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (local time). The launch will also include a “Spicy Hot Spot” tour. The tour will kick off in New York City on January 31, and travel to 14 select cities to help promote this latest addition
to McDonald’s menu. Other hot spots on the tour include: Philadelphia; Detroit; Washington; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta; Daytona, FL; Miami; Houston; Dallas; Phoenix; San Diego and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude in San Francisco, February 27.

mmmmm .... spicy chicken. Lunch. Free sample.

Sounds good!

Of course, it doesn't say you get a free sandwich - you just get to SAMPLE the sandwich.

Never mind.

I had one of these a couple weeks ago. It's not bad but a tad small.

I had one a couple days ago and it wasn't too bad. It was however really dry, then again maybe that had something to do with the homeboys preferring to dance and spit dope lyrics behind the counter instead of make my food properly. Wendy's will always be the place to go for a spicey chicken sandwich. That said, it's always YMMV on whether you get a nice juicy spicey chicken sandwich from there or a hard dry crunchy one.

I don't know, so far I'm not too crazy about the Premium line of sandwiches. Maybe because I ate so many during the Monopoly give away. But, I tried the spicy the other day, and the chicken is not bad, but the roll is terrible.

But, maybe it will taste better if it is free...

Yeah, it was okay. Just bring back the old Spicy Chicken. The bun to meat ratio is off on the new one.

Did they take away the Spicy Chicken? I was in there yesterday and usually when I go to McD's I'm cheap and I get the 1$ Spicy Chicken and the Double Cheeseburger.

They didn't have the Spicy Chicken just the McChicken and the double cheeseburger was $1.50

Is this new pricing?

Anyone else not really like McD's Chicken sandwiches? Everytime I get them they are just so dry. I'd say the worst out of the lot only tied by Burger King. I wish they would bring back the chicken whopper.

Yes. The $1 sandwich is gone. It is now a premium chicken sandwich in line with the others.

Not @ my local McD's! Just ask for it, they still have it for $1. My dad got one today.

Stop posting these "FREE" McDonalds Promos!!!!!!!

They are always the same. You get a free "sample"..... that means ONE BITE on a toothpick!!!!

Not a "hot deal" by any means..... if this is a "hot deal" then go to Costco, they offer free bites on toothpicks too....

or another hot deal: free ice cream at Basken Robbins.... free bite size sample with that little pink spoon.

If anything I bought the sandwich yesterday and received a voucher for a free medium drink and medium fries the next time I order the spicy chicken sandwich again.

Doubt I'd try it again though.

Same here, for today's lunch. Bought a Spicy Chicken value meal, and received the same coupon as mentioned above.

As for the sandwich - not terribly overwhelmed. Not my definition of "spicy" by a long shot.

I know it will suck when compared to Wendy's spicy chicken, but for free I may as well try it tomorrow.
