Help Finding a Cheap Memory Stick for Sony Cybershot

I am looking for the cheapest place to buy a 512MB or preferably 1GB memory stick for my Sony Cybershot 7.2.

If anyone can suggest stores or online sites that sell cheap i would appreciate it.

Thanks.

I'm also researching this and it appears that the 1GB sticks are the best value for $$ at the moment. Yah, 512MB sticks are cheaper, but having the extra capacity is easily worth $20 bucks. The 1GB should hold a combination of 280 pictures or 20 minutes of video. I figure that if I need more capacity later, memory will only get cheaper, so I might as well wait.

That being said, NEWEGG.COM has a SanDisk 1GB for about $69 shipped. But a good deal is the Buy.com site which has one for about the same price. HOWEVER, if you sign up for a Buy.com VISA, you get a $30 credit.

Good luck.

p.s. Who did you end up buying your camera from?

buy.com

SanDisk 1024MB Memory Stick Pro

Last week, it was $59.95 w/ free shipping
Now, it's $65.99

I think, it's still good deal.

Thanks for the help. I tried getting one from Buy.com...however they won't ship to me here in Puerto Rico which is a pain in the backside.

Can someone please supply me with a direct link to the Sandisk at NEWEGG.COM. I think i will have to try them. If they don't ship to PR then i will be a bit stuck.

By the way, i got my Cybershot from CompUSA in the end. They had a sale where it was $379. It wasn';t the cheapest, but with my Compusa card it means that i can pay it off over the next 6 months with zero interest. Rather do that then pay the whole lot out at once....especially with X-mas around the corner.

Ouch! And a 256MB memory stick cost me over $100 a couple years ago too.

Yep. ouch. I have used it a lot, and it takes killer pictures, it is just a clunker compared to the tiny cameras out now. I've been wanting to upgrade, but I don't feel I have gotten my $600 worth yet.

The memory stick is a kicker too. Mine won't accept anything other than the originals which only go up to 256MB and that is a switch function. 2 x128s. Won't take the Pros, and obviously not the duos. I wish it would though. I'd love to get in on these 1GB deals. But Sony makes a great camera and it hasn't let me down yet.

Just a note - I just bought the Cybershot 7.2 from Amazon for $328 shipped. Was gonna go Newegg, but tax (to California) brought the price to $348. Plus, if I use my Amazon VISA I get about $10 reward cash back.

Also, I read a bunch of reviews of the SanDisk memory and it seems hit or miss in terms of quality. I may just spend the extra $20 and get a Sony version. It kind of sucks the the off-brands aren't 100% reliable, but that's Sony for you - always using something different instead of industry standards.

p.s. I got the Red one just to be different.

The memory stick pro, is the longer one correct? Duo is the short one?
Also the pro is one sided, no switch from A to B? I forgot, buy I have a 256 stick that is basically 2 128mb and I need to switch.

Good deal for the 1gb stick. I might get it if someone confirms my questions.

TIA

Yeah, the DUO is the smaller one. They generally cost more (since the PSP they have came down in price, but still hold a premium over the normal Memory Stick's) You can use a DUO w/an adaptor though in any camera.
