XM Radio coming to DirecTV starting 11/15

This is a hot deal if you have a home unit you are currently using. This way you will be able to disconnect it and use your DirectV receiver. I talked about this a few years back on the tivo community. Check your DirecTV receivers for the line-up. I deleted my message that I received on 9/30 so I don't have them.

DirecTV w/ XM Raido

Already talked about in the XM/Sirius thread in Other. Good move by both.

From the link above:
Base Package Updates
TOTAL CHOICE® customers will receive 50 XM music channels
TOTAL CHOICE® PLUS customers will receive 67 XM music channels
TOTAL CHOICE® PREMIER customers will receive 67 XM music channels
DIRECTV PARA TODOS® customers will receive 7 Latin Music XM music channels in addition to their regular package selection.
I have one of the para todos packages, I wonder which 7 latin music channels they will add?

And does this really make a difference? That is, is XM going to be that much different from music choice?

Opie and Anthony and Ron and Fez aren't on a music channel. They're on an XM talk channel. The original message says that Directv will be offering XM's music channels.

Sure is.

SIRIUS is on DISH
XM is on DirecTV

Regardless of which service you choose this will help get satellite radio, which blows FM out of the water, more into the mainstream. You'd be surprised at how many people don't even know what satellite radio is.

No, it's true. You can't tivo music channels. Unless that changes with this announcement, you still won't be able to.

There's a noticable lack of specificity as to which XM channels will be appearing where on DTV on the two company websites (xmradio.com and directv.com). There's actually more info on DTV Channel 800 about this than on either site. I was happy to see that TopTracks (XM-46) will be coming over, but short of staring at Channel 800 and writing everything down, does anyone have a complete listing of which XM channels are coming over, where they'll be landing, and which packages they'll be included in?

Edit: Someone just emailed a pdf to me with the list. I'll clean it up and post it here shortly.

Pretty good move by the satellite companies, as now they dont have to program the music stations they were currently offering

Although I would have liked to receive the talk channels, so I could hear Ron and Fez again... miss them from their time spent in Florida as the Ron and Ron show

You are getting the talk channel that Ron and Fez are on. I was wrong about the Tivo part because I had never actually attempted to Tivo music channels, but I know that High Voltage, the station with O&A and R&F, will be on Directv.

I love the current 814 - Retro-Active ('80s New Wave with lots of fairly obscure stuff). Any of those XM channels similar?

That's what I thought! If you go to DirectTV's channel description guide, it looks like that XM "Special X" channel 848 is being compared to the old "Sounds of the Season" channel, so hopefully we'll get Christmas Music on that.

4 or 5 of XM's Radio channels every year go to full-time Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving. Not year-round, but there's plenty of XMas music there.
