Buying Packs/box of Sports Cards online?
 

I'm mostly interested in football cards. I'm wondering if anybody knows of a great place to buy a box or two for a good price?

I used to shop on eBay. I would get boxes of cards for well under MSRP.

Yeah, this seems to be the leader so far. I checked the link that was given and it was 30 percent higher than average ebay price.

Ebay is the way to go on most things, but be carefull. You might not get everything you are suposed to get. I have only been burned a few times on ebay and all of the times have been buying sprotscards. Good luck and i hope you pull some good cards...

One problem with buying boxes is that the seller may have purchased a case, opened a few boxes, and pulled a rare one per case card. Then, they resell the remaining boxes as sealed, but the buyer has no real chance at the rare insert cards.

That's what i'm worried about. It's the only thing holding me back from buying on ebay. I used to own a sports card store and I know those things happen.

ebay was the only way to go for me. Their prices are generally a lot lower then any physical store. The only downside to buying on ebay is not getting your grubby little hands on those packs to rip them open right then and there.

After seeing thsi thread I was looking aorund for what specific cards are actually worth something, and was blown away at what people pay for some specific cards. Maybe some of the new school rookie cards are actually worth investing in.

Edit to add: If I'm looking to buy a moderately priced Lebron rookie card which one should I get? Figured he's definitely going to be a godlike player so if I keep it long enough it may be worth something.

I have had some luck buying packs on eBay, but that said I wouldn't buy there. There is at least one (probably more) seller selling packs guaranteed to contain a rare chase card (heavy cards like jerseys, film cards, etc.). Obviously this guy searches full boxes to find the chase pack. I doubt that he throws away the rest of the packs, they are no doubt listed under a different seller ID.

dave and adams card world also has a store up in the beckett.com marketplace. I like going there, because the marketplace dealers are actual dealers. Sometimes you spend a little more than ebay, but you have a bunch of dealers competing with each other.

anyway if you go to http://www.beckett.com and on the left hand side you can search by sport and then by what you want.
