Staple's DVD-R, DVD+R 50 pack for $8 next week
Does anyone have a list of the the compatible burners for the Staple DVD media?
|
Another question, does anybody have the Staples media code? Or is it a bunch of different types?
|
i don't know what you mean by media code, but here's the item # if that's what you referring to. 590792 for DVD+R and 590794 for DVD-R.

|
Does anyone have any good/bad experiences using these?
|
i bought a 50 pack about 3 months ago and I never had any problems with them. infact i went out today and bought 3 of these 50 packs cant go wrong for 8 bucks
|
I bought a pack today and didn't realize until I got home that it's was DVD-R...I guess I'll have to go back and get some DVD+Rs :)
|
Bought 2 for me and 2 for my dad today. I guess you can't go wrong for $8. Here's hoping my Cyberhome Recorder doesn't have a problem with these.
|
People re asking about the media code because they want to know who really made them. Also knowing where they were made would help. Japan > Taiwan.
|
I got some of these today.
The media code for the DVD+R: CMC MAG E01 DVD-R: CMC MAG AE1 |

The media code for the DVD+R: CMC MAG E01 DVD-R: CMC MAG AE1 Looks like the -R code is the same as what Memorex and KHypermedia use. I'll be taking a pass on these. :) |
50pk for $8. It can't be that bad a deal even with CMC discs, right ;)
|
Thanks D-Ball

Stopped by today and they were all out of the Staples brand. They substituted the 50 pack of Sony Brand DVD-R, regular price $39.95 for $7.94
|
Thanks OP! I stopped and picked some up today!
|

It's never been explained to me, but I just assumed that they are two different formats (similar to VHS vs. Betamax). But don't most burners use either now? So what's the difference? Which should I purchase? I use this on my Dell: Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability |
They are just two different formats established by different companies. DVD-R is said to have better compatibility with older players. However, new players nowsaday can read both formats anyway.

I didn't have much hope for the quality of this media so I only picked up one spool of +R. But I burned one at 8x and tested it for quality and found it to be in the same quality range as TY media.

x,
what did you use to figure that out? |
KProbe, which only works with Lite-On drives. That's the main reason I keep a Lite-On drive.
Or you can use Plextor's PlexTools with a Plextor drive. Or Nero's CD-DVD Speed with the couple of other brand drives that support PI/PO scanning. |
Also bought their burner
I got in on both the Staples brand DVD-R media and the I/O Magic DVD burner rebate deal. This store was substituting two 25-packs of media for a 50 pack. (They were cleaned out of both +R and -R 50-packs already on Tuesday morning.)
The SKU on the pack is 560847. The package label did not specify a speed, so I thought I might be getting 4x or even 2x, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is 8x. Nero Infotools says Manufacturer ID is FUJIFILM03. I've only had the chance to burn a few DVD's so far in my new burner, but both drive and media have worked flawlessly so far. This is posted too late for their big sale, but might be useful to someone using a coupon or in a future sale. The question is, how long will it be until another deal this good comes along - perhaps with KHypermedia at Office Max? Ron H. |
Missed this one. Anymore deals on DVD-R?
