Some important points from the CH/BMG transition FAQ:
7. If I haven't purchased all my Columbia House Music Club commitments that I agreed to when I joined, will I still be responsible for these commitments when my membership is converted to a BMG Music Service membership?

No. You will no longer be responsible for any outstanding Columbia House Music Club CD commitments after your membership is converted.

9. What else do I get as a BMG Music Service member?

As a member of one of the BMG Music Service clubs you get...

* Your former Columbia House purchase commitments waived.
As a BMG Music Service member you will no longer be obligated to purchase your Columbia House Music Club commitment CDs.

* Your Bonus Points converted into BMG Music Service Music Points.
And to get you started, we'll also give each Columbia House member enough additional Music Points for a FREE CD (shipping and handling will be charged for each free CD). To read more about Bonus Point conversion, click here.

* You'll enjoy a great Music Selection.
BMG Music Service has over 14,000 titles from every genre of music. Whether you're looking for current hits or landmark albums, new music is constantly being added to the Club.

* You may choose a "Paperless Club" option.
Choose an online membership and receive all of your club promotions by email, instantly accept or decline your Featured Selection and, with BMG Music Service's Featured Selection Reminder service, you will never miss a reply-by date.

24. Will I still be able to access my Columbia House Music Club account and order history information online?

After August 22, 2005, you will no longer be able to access your Columbia House Music Club account online. If you have any questions about any outstanding Columbia House Music Club orders or billing issues after this date, please contact Columbia House Music Club Customer Service at 1-800-562-4046.

30. I ordered CDs from the Columbia House Music Club, but have not received them yet. Will I still get them?

We will do our best to fulfill all outstanding orders placed before August 22, 2005. If an item is out of stock or on backorder you will be notified by the Columbia House Music Club.

31. I placed a CD pre-order from the Columbia House Music Club? Will I receive it?

Columbia House Music Club will only fulfill pre-orders with a street release date of August 22, 2005, or earlier. All other pre-orders with street dates after August 22, 2005, will not be fulfilled.
More info can be found by logging into your CH Music Club account and clicking the "Click here to learn more about upcoming changes to your Membership" graphic on the left-hand side.

Here's a new BMG code: C5FS6
You get ulimited $5.99 CDs plus free shipping if you order 5 or more. Best of all (and despite what the small print on the e-mail said) box sets are included in the free shipping deal. Once the code is entered on the website, the offer detail states that box sets are included in the sale.

Greetings. I haven't bought CD's via CH or BMG for about five years, but am reentering the game. This thread is great! A question: are there any threads/forums that go into more detail on the "strategy" for maximizing the use of BMG? I'm looking for something like the DVD clubs sub-forum here at DVD talk. I just recently submitted my first BMG app, and have already discovered that (I think) I should stack my enrollment with 2 unit sets and use single unit selections for my four-free-after-fulfillment. Any other tips along those lines? Thanks for the help.

A tip for BMG is if to refer yourself or someone else in your household. This is probably frowned upon at CH DVD clubs, but BMG seems to have no problem with it as long as you pay. Also, the web site does not allow you to redeem your free selections for multi-disc sets and box sets, but if you email customer service, they will usually allow it (you still pay s/h).

Thanks fp1. I may try the email to customer service. Does BMG show any resistance to the continual cycling of accounts like we do with CH DVD?

I just completed my first recent account with BMG:

7 enrollment: 7 * 2.79
1 fulfillment (Metallica): 14.95
4 free: 4 * 2.79
5 free for "tell a friend: 5 * 2.79

avg per CD = $3.51

You can't beat that. The tell a friend is flakey. I referred my wife through the website, she joined, and nothing happened on my account. I sent an email to BMG through their customer service page (awful process btw). They sent an email back indicating that in order to get tell a friend free cd's your "friend" has to use some special application. Of course, the tell a friend page on the website makes no mention of this. Fortunately, they said they would "make an exception" and give me five free for telling a friend. That's better than the 3 I was expecting. All in all a good experience, but not unlike dealing with CH on DVD's. Their corporate marriage will probably be a good fit.

If you spend more than $14.99 on a discounted cd, does that count as a fulfillment even though it isn't regular price?

This is a great thread and I am happy I decided to join. Does anyone have a Buy 1 Get 3 code for BMG? Unfortunately, the C5CR15 code expired before I could use it.

No one has any b1g3 free or b1g2 free codes? I know there used to be a method to their codes and there was always one active b1g3 free code floating around. My sister has a new account she needs to fulfill.

By the way, it would be nice to know if anyone has a Buy 1 Get 3 Free code.

To get 60% Off with No Shipping & Handling, just click the "Have a promotion code?" link on the left side of our online store's homepage. Enter promotion code "D5LC1" in the box on the new page and click "apply." But hurry! Offer is only good for 48 hours! Offer expires 12/20/2005.
