Interesting. I've never received one.

Are ther any new columbiahouse codes out there. The last one posted was in Dec.

Funk 04-01-05 07:21 PM

I tried using "wxv" last week. Yesterday I got a letter saying that my enrollment was not approved due to the code having expired.

BMG B1G3 code anyone?

I have just joined BMG again, and wanted to wait to fulfill my membership until I see a B1G3 deal. Does anyone have an online code? Thanks

roastbeefalo 04-05-05 11:10 AM

CH cd deal

I just wanted to reiterate what a member has said here previously. If you buy a cd or dvd valued at more than $26 at CH, and you have a B1GX cd deal, you will actually get X times 2 free cds (as long as they are less than $25 each)
So, for example, when CD offers you a B1G4 deal you could get a 4 disc box set for $28 (such as Frank Sinatra, or Led Zep, or John Denver, or Talking Heads, etc). Then, you could load up with 8 double disc cds (like Miles Davis Bitches Brew, or The Band's Last Waltz, Clash Sandinista, or any of the Essentail Series (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, etc)). Your total cost will be about $60 to $70, and you get 1 * 4 disc + 8 * 2 disc = 20 total cds - for a per cd cost of $3 to $3.50.
The real beauty of the deal is that if you are trying to meet your membership requirements, each time you do this it counts towards 2 of your cd commitments.
So, even though they took away the wxv codes and the similar codes from us, you can still get an outstanding deal from CH cd club using this method.

BMG B1G3 CODE:

C5MD

Valid until 4-15 I think.

DVDTalker002 04-10-05 03:21 PM

b1g3 code does not work... Anyone have a working code?

DVDTalker002 04-10-05 05:10 PM

when did you try it? Because it doesn't work as of 3pm today.

DVDTalker002 04-10-05 05:11 PM

it works now... ODD

Funk 04-11-05 07:39 AM

The thing that really stinks about CH and BMG now is that you can't get 2-disc titles to count as one selection. The last time I joined, I got a few of the Uni Deluxe Edition titles and they only counted as one selection. Now they count as 2. Same with Columbia House. When I tried to join CH a few weeks ago with one of the codes, I was able to load up my cart with 15 titles, some of which has 2 discs. It was only after I submitted my order that they informed me that I could not get all 15. They basically just dropped the extra ones after I hit submit. Of course, the code had expired so it didn't really matter, but what a waste of time.

Neither club is anywhere near as good a deal as they used to be, unfortunately.

Hey Funk - Read my post above, and also earlier in this post someone else said the same thing. You can still get 2-disc titles to count as 1-disc titles, but you cannot do it right when you join. When you go to fulfill your membership, use that method of buying a cd or dvd for more than $26, and then you will get free cds that are less than $25 - whether they are 2-disc or 1-disc titles.

Funk 04-11-05 01:43 PM

Thanks roastbeefalo. I'll look into that.

BMG is still a better deal. You're paying less on average per disc. As far as I can tell anyway.

Hollowgen 04-11-05 03:44 PM

not with the 4.99 deal :)

SFranke 04-11-05 04:08 PM

Not every two-disc set is $4.99 at yourmusic.com.

Funk 04-11-05 06:56 PM

not with the 4.99 deal
The average price for the normal BMG deal is ~$4.
Usually 4 is considered less than 4.99. And I'm almost positive that 4 is less than 5.99, which is the current deal.

SWR 1 04-17-05 03:41 PM

I just spoke to someone who claims that they have a B1G4 free BMG code that they just used. I have never heard of it before so I was a bit sceptical. Does this code really exist? He said he would email it to me tomorrow when he got to the office. Has anyone heard of this type of code before?

SFranke 04-17-05 04:33 PM

I've seen it before. If you wait for it to come around, you'll be lucky to average one account per year.

columbia house has this deal frequently. never ever seen it at bmg.

SFranke 04-17-05 05:33 PM

While I'm here, I'll add that the current Buy One Get Three Free code is D5MD. For future reference, the BXGX code scheme is _5MD, where _ is the next letter in the alphabet. The last code was C5MD, and the next will be E5MD, etc. The number 5 is for the year, and M and D never change as far as I can tell.

SFranke 04-21-05 11:12 PM

I've a favor to ask of anyone looking to join, or a member of Columbia House Music Club. There is exactly one CD I want from there [Dream Theater "Images and Words"], and I really don't want to go through the trouble of lost applications, waiting for a deal, choosing from the meager selection of albums I already have, etc.

So, I'd like to know if anyone would make a trade of CD from this club for a CD from BMG. You'd have my CD delivered to me, I'd have your CD delivered to you, and that'll be that.

Any takers?

Leif Ashby 05-02-05 11:46 PM

I've searched high and low, but I think due to phrasing changes in BMG's online catalog I've not found an answer, and I hope someone can help me:
There are many titles listed (in BMG) that are 'Members Only', am I correct in assuming I can not use these titles for any phase of the 12 for 1 fulfillment process?
Nearly all of the SACD's are listed as such.

And, for anyone who's purchased from them, ever got a Digipak? There was some discussion of packaging concerns, but I'd think it'd be easier for them to simply use the Digipak, than to redesign inserts for a regular Jewel case.

Hollowgen 05-02-05 11:59 PM

members only cds can only NOT be obtained through the initial enrollment package. after you've been accepted as a member, you can purchase those for your obligation, free cds, whatever.

as for the digipak question: yes. all the time. mainly for newer releases. oh, and pearl jam albums.

Leif Ashby 05-03-05 09:35 AM

Great! Thanks for the help :).

neocheddar02 05-03-05 11:08 PM

if anyone's still interest in BMG, there's some (shady) deal going in where they'll give you FREE SHIPPING on your initial shipment. A popup,uh, pops up and links you to a new website w\ some deals, though I didn't find any that weren't asking for a Credit card.
