^ They announced another one a week or so ago, MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE, as part of that ‘small box’ line (I think). It’s ok in my book, but the DVD was enough and I didn’t keep that very long. Supplements are incomplete at the moment.

Murders in the Rue Morgue makes its debut on Blu-ray and 4K UHD.

Loosely based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe, this meta murder mystery stars Jason Robards and Herbert Lom, spinning a chilling tale where the line between performance and reality blurs, and the players become the real-life victims.

Cry of the Banshee director Gordon Hessler reunites with writer Christopher Wicking, this time writing alongside Henry Slesar, in the latest addition to the Hammer Presents range.

Still want to know more? We delve into the making of Murders in the Rue Morgue - from Gordon Hessler’s original dreamlike vision to the 'simplified' version released by studio.

This product comprises:
  • Brand-new artwork by Sam Hadley
  • Limited edition O-card packaging
  • English subtitles on each version of the film

The disc features:
  • Two cuts of the film: Hessler’s original non-linear Director’s Cut and AIP’s theatrical cut
  • New commentary with filmmaker and former Fangoria Editor-in-chief, Chris Alexander
  • Stage Tricks and Screen Fights: An archive interview with director, Gordon Hessler
  • And more

I love picking up some of these Hammer horror flicks and that one having two different cuts has certainly piqued my interest. I may keep an eye out for that one.

At last, one of the jewels, uncut, this October. :)

The Count is coming, and he's bringing long-lost footage unseen for over 60 years.

This October, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are together again as Hammer's original Dracula returns to cinemas and makes its worldwide home entertainment debut in stunning 4K.

Painstakingly restored in 4K from the best original archival materials sourced from around the world, Dracula (1958) returns in its most complete form ever presented. For the first time outside of Japan's original 1958 theatrical release, footage believed lost for over six decades has been meticulously restored and reintegrated into the film. This footage has never been released in the UK or the US, and has never been seen on home entertainment anywhere in the world.

This is the cut the censors tried to bury.

The Count awaits. Sign up for updates at hammerfilms.com/dracula

Another somewhat obscure ‘small box’ title announced today, BREAK IN THE CIRCLE from 1955. All-region. I haven’t seen it and I’ve been avoiding some of the smaller releases in favour of the big box gems, but this one is somewhat tempting.

Break in the Circle makes its debut on physical media in 4K for the very first time!

A fascinating outlier in the Hammer library, this stylish crime thriller has been painstakingly restored in 4K from the original film negatives for the highest quality viewing experience possible.

Though Hammer is best known for horror, Break in the Circle represents the studio’s sole full-blooded Eurocrime espionage thriller – released at the same time as The Quatermass Xperiment - it gives a glimpse into what the studios output might have looked like, had it not been for the boxoffice success of its horror output. This makes Break In the Circle an essential discovery for collectors, noir enthusiasts and Hammer completists alike.

A must-have for fans of classic crime cinema, espionage thrillers, and Hammer’s lesser-known gems.
