The one and only Terror Vision thread
I was a little surprised to see there wasn’t a thread about Terror Vision here already, so…here’s a placeholder!

Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
Cool. I was thinking of starting this myself (plus a couple of others), but wasn’t sure. Mainly due to this release, too. Great to see some of this really obscure shit getting revived, although $25 is a bit steep, considering all the years that movies like this (albeit not this one) were routinely dumped on bargain DVDs during that whole era. Still, it’s cool to know they’re finding workable elements for this stuff, and they do seem to have sales once in a while (including back around Christmas as I recall)
Oddly enough, I’ve brought this title up a couple of times at the Vinegar Syndrome store here, just to see if they might get it, and both times the owner gave a notably terse “we’re not distributing them anymore” with a look that kinda said “don’t ask why.” Weird. Perhaps there was some bad blood between the labels when they parted? |

Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
Coming in December from Terror Vision (in both an $80 edition limited to 300 copies and a less-limited edition of 2,500). $45 is a lot to swallow, but I loved, loved, loved this gloriously ridiculous movie in the VHS days and don’t think I can resist.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...5a1fb1217.jpeg THIS ITEM IS A PRE-ORDER AND WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL DECEMBER!!! THIS AIN'T NO FAIRY TALE! An ancient evil is inadvertently unleashed on modern day Los Angeles in this shocker from the creators of Leprechaun. In a mysterious antique shop, a young mother whose police officer husband was recently killed in the line of duty comes across an unusually carved “wishing stone” that she cannot resist. But little does she realize that her one casual wish to see her husband one last time will free the demonic Rumpelstiltskin trapped inside the rock for over 500 years. Now armed with nothing more than a fairy-tale legend, a young mother must fight to defend what she holds most dear against an evil that will stop at nothing to steal her infant son’s soul! Terror Vision is incredibly proud to bring this video store staple to home video in HD for the very first time in the world! Not only in HD but a UHD with a HDR color grade approved from the director Mark Jones and FINALLY in its original aspect ratio. This Limited Edition Includes: Rigid Box with art by Ghoulish Gary Pullin Slipcover by Chloe Manon UHD and BD of Rumpelstiltskin Perfectly Bound Booklet w/ writing from Writer/Director Mark Jones, Composer Charles Bernstein, Dr. Jack Zipes (Professor Emeritus University of Minnesota), Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Erica Shultz, Yasmina Ketita, Graham Skipper, Ryan Verrill, and an Archival Written Interview w/ Mark Jones from John Campopiano from Fangoria.com. Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
https://mcusercontent.com/0e57f15f3b...1352de40e.jpeg Hello good humans! Welcome to our biggest drop of 2024. We have so much cool stuff to discuss. Here’s what we’re up to today:
I will be adding stuff to the site for the next few days (mostly sale stuff and things I find unpacking from the move). As a result, we’ve made our combine orders checkout code active since you might want to grab this and that over the next week. That code is COMBINE at checkout. It’ll make shipping free if you’ve already purchased something. Don’t just use it for free shipping as Alayna will simply not ship all that you bought unless you pay a shipping invoice haha. Which is also fine to do if you’d prefer to simply be invoiced for shipping. Easy peasy. Clubbers can use this code as well if you see something on the normal site you want at the extreme discount and we’ll just add to your next club shipment. Phew. I think that’s it. I’m exhausted. Thanks a ton for your continued support. Rumpel Deluxe Edition is still looking good to ship in Dec according to our manufacturer so that’s rad. Onward upward. xo, Ryan Graveface https://mcusercontent.com/0e57f15f3b...b584982949.jpg |
Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
Happy Holidays! We are super excited to announce the next Culture Shock Releasing title…Assault of the Party Nerds (1989) & Assault of the Party Nerds 2: The Heavy Petting Detective (1995) as a triple Disc 2xBlu-ray/CD set. The slip is LTD to 2000 total units, 500 at Graveface (grab here) and 1500 at Terror Vision (grab here). From today until 1/1/25 we’re offering this triple disc release at $29.99 (as a thank you for an amazing 2024). It’ll go up to $32.99 on that day. Culture Shock is happy to bring these two classic sex comedies to Blu-ray for the very first-time with a 3-disc set (3rd disc being the soundtrack on CD)! Assault of the Party Nerds is presented and restored in HD for the first time with a fresh scan from the original camera negative. Part 2's elements were sadly lost years ago but is presented on this disc from the 1-inch master. We’re super excited about what Culture Shock has in store for 2025. If you have a previous order at Terror Vision and you want to add this to that, use code COMBINE at checkout (doesn’t work at Graveface). We’ve gotten a bunch of stuff shipped pre-holiday and will continue later this week. Still haven’t gotten tracking on the Rumpel UHDs although we have everything else ready to go. We’ll ship everything the moment they arrive, of course. Have a lovely holiday! xo https://mcusercontent.com/0e57f15f3b...90b46a2a5.jpeg https://mcusercontent.com/0e57f15f3b...0e2a61082.jpeg |
Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
I love seeing this:
We are introducing “introductory pricing” at TV from now on. That means products will be at a sale price for a week before it moves to full price. |
Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
Wow, what a unique concept. -rolleyes-
Oh, and the PARTY NERDS movies are pretty bad, along with a lot of Richard Gabai’s films. Seems like a little cult manufacturing there. Mind you, it’s probably not the first time a boutique has done that. |
Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
New announcements, per BradTV on the other forum:
Very excited to announce our newest batch of titles that was a long time in the making. Enter The Panther is a big one because we had zero leads on any material for the film and was stuck with a release tape upon signing the film. While speaking with David Gregory one day, he mentioned they had a beat-up print that they found during their searches for their Bruceploitation set. David was kind enough to help us acquire the print and help us deliver this film in HD. Dance Or Die was an exciting City Lights title to get out (our 3rd CL title) because we were able to track down all the music that John created for it. Munch did a commentary for the film as well as a few others that did interviews that were part of the production. Not many City Lights titles will have a limited edition like this but having the full soundtrack to something like this is pretty special. Gushing Prayer took a while behind the scenes but very excited to be one of the very few US labels to release any pink films. Personally, one of my favorites because it holds a lot of weight with its story and meaning. GF will be going in many directions but excited for pink films if these do well. Suddenly In The Dark took probably the longest between making sure the UHD was perfect along with a perfect HDR color grade. I want to thank Jared and Pete from MM for being VERY generous for us using their extras and even the pieces for the booklet to make this release really pop. We even included their restoration on the disc as well. If not for Jared and Pete, many people would have never seen this film. And of course, you can pick up the standard for Revenge of the Radioactive Reporter and Frogman. Both are embossed slips and the same disc from our previous release. Before people ask about the pricing for Frogman because it's cheaper at Wal-Mart; it simply comes down to the quality of the slipcover. They ain't cheap to manufacture. |
Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
ENTER THE PANTHER, as I vaguely recall, isn’t particularly memorable, but I believe I saw it on a ratty public domain version of some sort, so it might be worth a revisit (although maybe not at TV’s prices). I must admit, it makes perfect sense now but I never realized that the search for all the movies in the Bruce Lee clones box sets would naturally have unearthed plenty of other film elements that might be in salvageable condition. Whether some of them deserve it is arguable, I suppose, considering how little they’re remembered. This one’s on Tubi for the curious.
GUSHING PRAYER is indeed a pretty unique Pink film. Third Window Films (UK) released it in one of their two region-free Pink Films double features, but I guess those must be out of print now. The frustrating thing about these Pink releases is there are a number of ‘collections’ that could be made from the hundreds of these shows that were made and still exist in good shape, themed by directors and stars, maybe four or more titles to a set, just to get them out there faster, with supplements contextualizing them together. The industry had a number of famous starlets, and many directors went on to mainstream careers when Pink films were squeezed out by hardcore. Considering the vast majority of them were 70 minutes, and sometimes don’t warrant repeat viewing, I just can’t justify single-title pricing. I get that companies like TV and 88 Films (which is also delving into these on Blu-ray) want to milk the revenue streams for as long as they can, but if and when the novelty wears off, a lot of this stuff will remain unreleased, or you’ll have to hunt down the older Impulse Pictures DVDs. Just watched the Mondo Macabro Blu of SUDDENLY IN THE DARK about a month ago. Really interesting picture, but not one I would expect to need a 4K release. ETA: looks like the pre-orders for these are already up at their site: https://www.terror-vision.com/ |

Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
Finally, something from them with a decent reputation! Not surprisingly, I wish they’d have done separate editions instead of forcing many folks to take 4K on films that don’t really need it, but the set looks decent and they’ve retained some of the archival supplements. The Sebastians made a number of interesting movies back then before they went and got all churchy (these were by far the best of them), so I’m curious if Terror Vision has access to any of the others.

Re: The one and only Terror Vision thread
Some updates from the other forum:
We are pretty good. :) I'm in charge of everything technical and producing wise at TV. We have a pretty good setup for whatever elements we find and use. For any film elements, we have access to a variety of scanners but mainly use The Director for the bigger jobs. We restore our films frame by frame and don't use any "auto" tools like some studios and other labels sometimes do. No AI. We do upscale from time to time when it comes to tape but it's not your traditional way of doing things without using any true AI. We have a custom deck that pulls the most information out of the element we have. I'm also very critical when it comes to HDR and DV because so many discs that are released go too hard on skin tones giving people sunburn or looks like they have a rash. I'm in charge of every cleaning, scan, restoration, and color grade along with the QC for the discs themselves as well as everything that goes on the disc. If we are dealing with anything overseas and can't get the elements to the US. We use the best possible scanner we can and then restore it here at the lab we use in the US. If the rightsowner wants to restore and grade the film in their home country - I still oversee every aspect and give my personal notes. We don't just accept scans like other companies either...unless its done properly and meets our standards. If we can't come to an agreement on that - we simply drop the title. And yes, our stuff looks and sounds great. On our YouTube page, you can see some of our side by sides and restoration work. Happy Hell Night will be out in the next few months. Everything is finished with it - we are just shooting extras at the moment. Sadly, the film has a bad history so not many want to be involved. 80s Slasher - UHD/BD/CD (upgrade) New Scan of the OCN w/ Extras 2015 Splatter Comedy - UHD/BD/CD 90s Supernatural Slasher - UHD/BD (possible CD) 90s Monster Movie - UHD/BD (upgrade) New Scan of the IP w/ Extras Shoestring Slashers Vol 2 - BD 80s Slasher - UHD/BD (upgrade) New Scan of the OCN w/ Extras 80s Supernatural Slasher - UHD/BD/CD 90s Slasher - UHD/BD (upgrade) 2022 Horror Drama -BD 90s Horror Dramedy - UHD/BD/CD 80s Crazy Creature Feature - BD/CD 80s Supernatural Slasher - BD 80s Slasher - BD (possible CD) 2018 Adventure Horror - BD Other stuff in the works that we are TRYING to get out this year 90s Slasher - UHD/BD (upgrade) Documentary Double Feature - BD 90s Scifi/Action - UHD/BD 2016 Multi-genre "Masterpiece" - UHD/BD (possible CD) and many others Some of these may pour into Nov/Dec. Some might be scooted to 2026. We have hundreds of titles we are working on so whatever comes up first and complete is how we do things. We don't like to rush titles here at TV and if it isn't 100%, we don't mind delaying it. |
