They better not package it where you pull the discs out of sleeves like the original Star Wars trilogy blu-ray box set and the Mummy 4k collection.

I think the packaging for Indy and Star Trek would be a better indicator of how this one will go down.

Re: The Godfather Trilogy - 4K UHD

So it is Coda cut only. I wonder if the digital will have an extra with another cut of III.

Re: The Godfather Trilogy - 4K UHD

Time to finally watch these on the formats I have them on already, then buy the set if I like them. The theatrical version of part 3 would be reason enough as that's never been on home video (and I don't care if it wasn't "what the director wanted", it's the version that played in theaters regardless and should at least be available along with the other cuts.)

The price needs to drop another $30 for making me have to get The Godfather Part III.

Is it really swag if it’s just junk added in?

A hardcover book on the movie is hardly junk

Is the book and portraits worth the extra cost? That’s subjective.

Based on the picture, it looks more like a big pamphlet, not a book.

I'd jump on this if the price was a tad lower. Or else I'll just wait for separate releases, if that happens.

I'm sure it'll be $40 at some point in the first 6 months of release

Re: The Godfather Trilogy - 4K UHD

The book actually looks pretty nice to me, but I’m not a big enough fan to want it. Especially at that price point. I have the Blu-ray’s and I think they’ll hold me over. Maybe once there’s a price drop I’ll upgrade.

Re: The Godfather Trilogy - 4K UHD

I think I might try to see The Godfather in Dolby on the 24th. This is a classic and if there's an opportunity to see it on the big screen, especially now 50 years later, I'll do it. I was born in 1973, so it was years before I was able to see movies in the theater. I just want to say that I actually saw one of the classics on the big screen (yes I know the majority here are content seeing it at home)

Say what you will about Godfather III, including all 3 cuts is amazing. Coppola knows how to do things right.

If Coppola did things right, he’d let Paramount include the Saga Cut. Release the Snyder Non-Coppola Cut!

My dad wasn't a big movie-goer. Most movies I saw at the theater was with my older sister. While it would be nice seeing it in the theater again, it was the only movie we went to together when it first opened. I would probably think too much about missing him.

Wow, that’s a huge memory to have with this movie for you. Yeah, I can see how seeing this in a theater could be overwhelming.

Which one though? There are like 3 or 4 different versions, all of which are at minimum 6 hours long. How many discs is this supposed to have?

People seem to have no problem with junk packaging over on the Ghostbusters thread. This doesn’t seem any different.

Just the regular set for me, but not for $90.

Same.

Man glad I was wrong on my previous post about the regular edition not having the various versions of III. DJariya's post made my day.
$90 is a bit steep I will wait too. I hope the 4k discs look spectacular.

Re: The Godfather Trilogy - 4K UHD

$90 is just the MSRP

This will likely be priced similar to the Indiana Jones set. $50-70 on sale.

I’m sure they will look great, it’s the Harris restoration for I and II, which was scanned in at 4K when it hit blu-ray in 2008. The subtitles in the Godfather font were done in 8K, so maybe when the next format rolls along, we’ll get uncompressed subs
