I actually wouldn't mind a "kitchen sink" cut of the movie that included all of the scenes from the theatrical cut, tv cut, and director's cut. There are quite a few nice scenes that are unique to each version.
I can't believe Paramount never released a comprehensive version of ST:TMP DVD and Blu ray multi-disc set with all the cuts (like they did with Blade Runner). In fact it boggles the mind the why they didn't render ST:TMP in HD back in 2001. I mean did they really think that TV would never evolve to high definition?

Indeed Paramount/CBS's treatment on Trek on home video (with the exception of the spectacular TNG Blu rays) has been lackluster if not outright appalling. We have a "Paramount Presents" series where classic Paramount movies are getting 4K transfers. The Golden Child gets a 4K mastering, but we're still have the crappy 2009 HD releases of the first 10 Star Trek movies that don't look that much better than the DVDs. WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK.

Star Trek is one of the most popular, long running and notable pop culture phenomenons in the last 100 years and it's insane that the people who own it treat it like an afterthought. I hope Disney buys the Star Trek franchise from Paramount. They couldn't treat it any worse.

It's not like Disney is doing anything with their live-action back catalog. Star Trek sells no matter what, remaster or not. That is why it takes years for any Star Trek film/show getting restored.

I seem to recall the poor treatment of Trek even goes back to the laserdisc days. No special features to speak of, even the big movie boxset was just the movies in a box.

Itís like theyíve always hated that itís such a moneymaker but itís all filthy nerd money.

Bed of Roses deserves an upgrade from just being on DVD. It's one of the very few pure romance movies that Hollywood has made and its shouldn't be forgotten.

I forgot about Star Trek: The Motion Picture not having an HD version of anything beyond the theatrical cut readily available. Thatís a definite shame. Hopefully someday Paramount will remaster the directorís/extended edition content. The film has truly become one of my favorites over time, and one of my favorite entries in the Star Trek franchise.

More of a 'I wish it would get released' rather than 'I can't believe it wasn't released', but the Ramones documentary End of the Century, particularly because the DVD was non-anamorphic widescreen

Re: I Can't Believe It's STILL Not on Blu ray (or 4K)!

The Three Musketeers (1948)
Captain Blood (1935)
From the Earth to the Moon (1958) - doesn't even have a US DVD release!

The Warner Brothers Marx Brothers movies:
A Day At The Races
A Night At The Opera
The Big Store
Go West
Room Service
At The Circus

A Night in Casablanca
just got a BR release though *not* from WB

Considering they're part of the Star Trek franchise and in spite of the reportedly "poor sales" of the remastered TNG on BR (Heck - I purchased it and I'm not much of a fan of this one but I also waited for sales and feel the original stupidly high price CBS wanted per season was the main deterrent) - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (admittedly faces challenges) and Star Trek: Voyager (this one shouldn't be that difficult to do).

Deep Space Nine and Voyager have similar problems with regard to extensive CGI VFX being rendered in standard-definition.

Yeah, I believe that by the time Voyager debuted, the bulk of the ship effects on both shows were CGI, and DS9 has all of the morphing on top of that. It might not be too difficult to re-render the ships, but all of the shape-shifter effects will be more time-consuming.

To be brutally honest, I don't think Paramount ever had any intention of making HD masters of DS9 or VOY; they just used the excuse of poor sales on TNG to justify the decision that was already in place to not to do them. DS9 and VOY never had the cultural cachet that TNG did, nor a breakout star like Patrick Stewart.

Maybe it bombed during its time

The DVD is hard to find too.

Don't understand what they are trying to prove or market with Heston with no shirt on.

Having watched The Omega Man and Soylent Green somewhat recently, Heston seems to have an almost Shatner-like predilection for losing his shirt so they're probably playing off of that.

I saw Twister in theaters last summer and it could really use a 4k remaster and new 4k/blu-ray release.

That 5 movie set with the Dead Zone did not get good reviews

It is available outside of the U.S.

They need to do a better job with this movie on Blu-ray.

Probably one of the more disgusting characters ever shown on film which probably turned a lot of people off but this should be on Blu-ray

Even on DVD it is hard to find.

No US blu ray. The master exists as it is available in Germany.

Philadelphia Experiment (1984)

^I loved that movie as a kid (one of those that played all the time on early HBO) but I can't seem to remember a thing about it now.

I just remember the box art posted here, never saw the movie. It was a familiar mainstay back when you'd just roam the video rental store for an hour looking at all the movies.

I love Quiz Show, glad I at least have the DVD. I even saw that in the theater when I was in high school, wow.

"You Can Count on Me" (Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo). Must be a Criterion release. Would also love to see "Men Don't Leave". Paul Brickman's second only film (after "Risky Business"). I know it's not considered a classic and most have forgotten it. But it's a wonderful movie. Plus there are a shitload of Paramount titles that should be on Blu-ray but aren't including "Pretty Baby" and "Looking for Mr. Goodbar".

Havenít thought about Quiz Show in a while. I would buy that if it was released.
