I'd have to go back and watch both versions of the movie to really tell the difference. Arrow must not have gotten the film elements for remastering the unrated cut. I have to be in a certain kind of mood to watch it but haven't watched the rape scene since seeing it in theaters. If you have seen the original movie I'd recommend it as it's a well done remake.

The Last House remake was finished with a digital intermediate, so there isn't a conformed negative to scan. Generally, alternate cuts from these years were finished in HD, which is why the UHD releases so often have the theatrical cuts in 4K and the alternate versions in HD only. It's the same story as, say, World War Z from Scream Factory.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

So did anyone actually order the 4K Bruce Lee set from the UK? The Disc Father ordered it and looks like the box came all dinged up. Arrow is only willing to offer a 15% refund. They said it's only the box and your discs should be fine.

The set is really expensive, so I understand his gripe.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I had only ever owned a single disc of Enter the Dragon so I thought the Criterion set was the best option. I've enjoyed what I've seen of it so far, but I'm not a big enough fan to double dip on something like this.

It looks like it's a common thing with this set. Mine should be arriving soon so we will see.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

If that set was shipped like that then Arrow should be ashamed. If it wasn't and was damaged in shipping, then Arrow should be ashamed for packing it so poorly that something like that would happen.

It is mind-boggling that distributors like Arrow, Shout and many others don't realize or seem to care that collectors and film lovers are their life blood at this point. We are the only thing keeping them alive and everyone should know by now that people like us pay a premium for these collections because we give a shit not only about what the film looks like but the packaging that surrounds it. These aren't $2.99 pick-ups on an endcap at Wal-Mart selling to Joe Blow who doesn't give a crap what the case looks like.

Give a shit, do better, or get out of the business if you don't care how the end product arrives to your customer. Disappointing.

Diabolik said more than half of their inventory arrived damaged:

Manufacturer likely delivered a ton of damaged sets to Arrow, placing the label in a tough spot. Ship them out, or push the release date back several months.

DiabolikDVD has always understood the the community they are not only selling to but are an important part of.

Anytime I want a release that I would like packed incredibly well, I always pay a little extra and order through DiabolikDVD.

I haven't gotten that Bruce Lee set. It's way too expensive and not something I need right now. Glad I held off considering the shoddy shipping. Hopefully in the fall/winter when it possible goes on sale, it will be fixed.

Yeah, and even with the $12 off from DD on dented sets, it's still too expensive. You also only get Enter the Dragon on BD, because WB will be releasing their own 4K disc of that film.

I'm confused that companies such as Arrow purposefully create an endless amount of elaborate packaging (with premium pricing) for their sets, only to give the cold shoulder to their fans who want that elaborate packaging in prestige condition.

As PhantomStranger mentioned, that many sets being damaged probably put them in a tough spot and they have to keep moving forward.

Even so, their excuse is full of hot air.

Broken windshields don't affect a car's ability to be driven, nor torn book pages for a book to be read but its well within reason for an individual to want what they use their hard-earned money on to be in good condition.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I got mine in pretty good condition. A really tiny crush in one corner that you probably wouldn't notice unless you looked closely. I think the issue is the design itself. You have cardboard cases inside instead of plastic cases and the top pulls off. There's really nothing protecting the corners so stacking a bunch of these would crush the corners pretty easily. Everything inside is mint. I'll also add that it's very heavy. It's pretty close to the size of the original Battles Without Honor and Humanity set but it feels like it weighs double that set.

Despite the issue, this is a gorgeous set. Worth every penny IMO.

Forcing fans to buy not just one but three crappy sequels to get the original Hellraiser. Classy movie, Arrow.

Itís how boutique labels keep going and we need all of them that we can to stay in business.

Iíve never seen any of these films but nice box sets like that always catch my eye.

Especially since the collection is listed as a limited edition, they might back off that after a bit. For instance, Arrow initially packaged Battle Royale and the near-universally-reviled BR II together in a UHD limited edition, and a standalone edition with just Battle Royale followed 7 months later.

I'd love to upgrade Hellraiser but have no real interest in the sequels (actively dislike II, haven't seen 3 since high school, never seen 4), so I'm sure I'll wait until something better comes along.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Anchor Bay also packaged Battle Royale II in with Battle Royale.

That's probably the only way they could get the sequel out, because I don't think it would sell many copies on its own. The way I look at it, it's a bonus feature on the Battle Royale special edition.

I can see packaging Hellraiser I-IV into a single boxed set, since they're sort of the "real" Hellraiser movies, and everything that followed was just Dimension churning out a bunch of barely related shit.

Hellraiser 4 is a classic compared to everything that followed(except for the Hulu reboot version).

I wonder if the upcoming Hellraiser re-releases will fix the egregious framing issues that were in their previous release of Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth (1992).
